,,The love for electronic music was discovered by Kluges Kind in 2016. Two years later, the itch to try it herself became irresistible, and she entered the DJ ring with 105 BPM. However, over time, the pace increased, and the genres shifted. Now, she navigates through Leipzig's club scene with a mix of melodic vocals, intense breaks, and a full bass.

When I entered the DJ scene in Karlsruhe in 2018, I only knew one other Flinta person who was playing music. The inequality was very pronounced, Flinta people were (and are) little recognized and valued. However, I only truly became aware of all this when I came to Leipzig in 2021. The awareness of equality in general is much more pronounced here. Nevertheless, there is still much work to be done until underrepresented groups have an equal place in the club and cultural scene. It's good that the issue is taken seriously in cities like Leipzig, so that it also becomes a priority in cities with less politicized club scenes.''

A long while in the making, “Palo Santo” marks the return of label founders Yen Sung and Photonz to the studio and the reigniting of their Alphabet Street label back into life. On their new collaboration, Yen & Marco expertly combine tough beats and a wall of hypnotic synths as the ritualistic paraphernalia to conjure a mind/body frenzy of epic proportions. Super-charged yet deceivingly simple, “Palo Santo” charges forward with an uplifting spiritual energy as pungent as the finest of incenses.

On the remix, they’ve recruited one of the most prominent talents to arise from the Portuguese techno scene in recent years, Vil, who delivers a hazy and positively deep journey in to the Underworld; dubby swirls of sound dance over aquatic bass and a sharp, no-nonsense rhythm foundation perfected for dancefloor bliss.

Spending most of his teenage years listening to Hip-Hop, Niklas discovered his love for electronic music by entering Hamburg’s club scene. Since he heard the sound of a stomping kick drum for the first time, he lost his heart to beat. Shortly after, he bought himself a pair of turntables and from that moment on, he spent most of his time digging in record shops such as Otaku Records or Smallville.

The classic sound is his passion - from cities like Chicago, Detroit or New York - but he doesn’t limit himself to a particular genre and plays whatever pleases his ears. Together with friends, he organized several events in different locations all over Hamburg before the pandemic pressed pause. Now located in Berlin, he’s ready to bring back his sound to the dance floors. 

The nostalgia of the times, when Niklas' music was a frequent part of Hamburg's house music scene, moved us to present to you his vinyl only sound - We're more than honoured to have him in our radio roster!

ANKA aka bad:belle leads you into a world of groovy and bouncy sounds. "No bad vibes on Wendys' Yard" is the leading motive of this set. Starting with slower disco-house based on percussions they combine acid house, rare 90ies classics and few UK-Garage tracks later on in the mix. The closing is a well known favourite "you're not alone", delivering the happy summer vibes right into your ears and your heart.

Though highly respected by her fellow jockeys for her mixing style and impeccable skill at that, she’s a fan first and a club kid at heart – which seems to be a major reason for her ability to immediately connect with different kinds of crowds in various settings. As a DJ, Marie is known for her dynamic and engaging sets, which seamlessly blend together different styles of house music. Her performances have taken her to some of the most prestigious festivals, including FUSION, GARBICZ or NACHTIVILLE and Clubs like Frankfurt’s ROBERT JOHNSON, Hamburg’s PUDEL or Berlin’s HEIDEGLÜHEN, to name just a few.

Dabbling in beat making and production for quite a while now, Manchester based Record label DREAMING FOREVER signed Marie for her first 12“Vinyl EP entitled IVY BLUES, which is out now!!!

For this mix I dug into my collection and tried to include some laid back tracks I love and usually don’t get to play when djing (i.e. the opening track by Shigeto. Absolutely in love with the whole album for many years) and combined them with some recently discovered disco & house (i.e. plz check out John Manhard), a pinch of indie sounds and other things I (re)discovered on my way through my record collection and felt right at the moment. 

One of the first things I remember when thinking about me and music is very little me listening to Elvis Presley in front of my parents hifi system in the living room for hours. With short excursions into hip hop I later got hooked to Punkrock & Indie music, playing bass guitar in bands for several years. I have always been most attracted to the rhythm section and funky stuff and as a former bass player basically everything with a groovy bassline still gets me going.

After moving to Mannheim more than 10 years I discovered clubbing, got more and more into electronic music and eventually started djing mainly (but not only) disco and house music, which has become an addiction to which I devote as much time as possible. 

I hope you enjoy the mix and it accompanies you smoothly into the new year. Thank you for listening.
