Andy Perrin is a writer/photographer/cyclist/teacher who lives in southern Rhode Island in the U.S. He often explores the world around him on one of his bicycles and records moments of inspiration in photographs and words.

Much of his work is rooted in nature and recently that led him to begin to practice haiku. Andy enjoys tight writing that allows the reader to find room for themselves among the words and lines. Messed around in MuseScore for this week's challenge, for something different.

Early morning,
One star remaining,
It’s a good day too.

A wandering poet and ascetic Zen priest, Santōka was a disciple of Ogiwara Seisensui, one of the first poets to discard the traditional use of the 5-7-5 structure in haiku.

Santōka’s poetry emphasizes the necessity of sabi (solitude) in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment and serenity.

A Good Day Dawning(NaviarHaiku492)

Marco's lovely haiku inspired this improvisation, played originally on Mai Tai VST synth (within Studio One 6). Because I'm not yet used to working in Studio One, I had a few problems and moved it into my usual DAW, Reaper, then did some quite heavy editing before mastering with CloudBounce. It's a bit of a mash-up but I hope it captures the feel of a desolate street at dawn...  :)
