The Myth of The Mingkulpa Tulpa:
a being of pure thought
created by an ancient Aboriginal dreamer,
and unleashed upon us all.

Chewing on the ash and leaves of the pituri plant,
the dreamer entered... a pituri dizzy!

And in the wake of this cosmic and personal event,
a confusion of dream and un-dream set in.
A rhyme of time gained and time lost.
A place of here and elsewhere.
A pituri didgeri mystery.
Unknown and known.
Paradox and parable.
The Mingkulpa Tulpa was born!

And the Aboriginal sent him forth
to meet We, The Modern Man!

Whether the Tulpa was benevolent or not
was not yet understood.
But wherever he traveled,
a confusion of waking sleep befell all others.

Cosmic Serenity (Demo)

A cheeky Zenlike Creature Cover of one of my favourite tracks from the 90's. I don't know, there's just something so nostalgic for me that I've wanted to do a version of this for ages.

I've not heard many, if any, chilled or slightly more acoustic versions so I thought that was a good route to explore.

I'm quite pleased with this overall; however, I think I'd like to try the vocals with one of the singers I know rather than using the original.

We'll, see.

Not Over Yet

I put these mixes together about 20 years ago after digging through my vinyl and CDs to put together a little psychedelic journey of some of the great Goa/Psy-Trance tracks of the mid to late 90's.

I loved the Goa Mix and the Perfecto Fluoro albums when they were released and I spent a lot of time trying to hunt down the records featured, and found some other great tracks along the way.

Anyway, after closing down my old Soundcloud page to focus on this one, I thought that here would be a perfect new home for these sets.

Unfortunately, I've lost the set list for each of these but I will do my best to cobble them back together. Most I remember but there's a few which I'll have to double-check.

It feels like sacrilege to even consider remixing (unofficially, of course) a track by the Ozric Tentacles, a band I have looked up to and admired since the early 90's. 

There have been some wonderful and interesting remixes officially done over the years and I've always wanted to have bash myself. 

This track, Tight Spin, is taken from their album Hidden Step, released in 2000, if you want to check out the original version, which is fantastic.

Ozric Tentacles - Tight Spin (Zenlike Creature's Loose Roll Remix) (Unofficial)

I hoping to collaborate with a couple of musical friends in the new year to try out the new studio one of them has built. The music will be mostly build around drums, bass, guitar, and synths and anything else we feel will add to the experience.

With this in mind I have started putting together some early demo ideas and the others will do the same. We'll then sit down, have a listen, keep what we like, add new elements, and generally have a lot of fun (I hope) making some music!  

No idea how many tracks we'll put together but I'm hoping for four at least. This track is something I've put together as a test bed for ideas. I wonder how much will be used?...

Now, I know some folk are purists (see the Star Wars back against George and the 97 reissues) but All I want to do here is enhance what I wrote and produce, not add anything that wasn’t there in the original. Just a better balanced mix and master.

As I've been working on remixing and remastering the first Zenlike Creature album, I decided to revisit the second album, too. Oddly, the second album was actually written before the first (during Covid lockdown) and I'd always had plans for it to be recorded in a studio using fellow musician friends to record various parts. Sadly, this never came to pass and time has moved on.

So, here I am, tidying up the mixes, a bit of instrument replacement here and there, and remastering. Hope you enjoy!

Unfortunately this is part of a project that I may have lost due to a hard drive failure. I am trying my best to retrieve  the data but I do not hold out much hope. 

Thankfully, I did find a folder with the most recent mixes (if you call a couple of years ago recent) on my old Mac, so I thought I'd at least master them and pop them up for you to enjoy. 

If the original work cannot be recovered I may just look to re-record and re-imagine them with the help of two musician friends at some point next year. It'll be interesting how they'll turn out with the input and suggestions, and different synth hardware, they'll bring to the table. 

But, for now, please enjoy! :)

I like to see what I can do, remix wise, with some of my favourite artists music. This is probably not the most original remix and I've only heard one other remix of this particular track, but I had fun doing it and I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Zenlike Creature was initially set up as a side-project, born out of a love of the psychedelic music scene.

It could be said that this project is almost 30 years in the making since that wonderful summer of 93 and that first listen of the Ozric Tentacles 'Live Underslunky' album - it certainly opened more than just eyes! 

Since then it's been a continual music adventure hunting down bands and artists of similar style and genre. Whilst not always fruitful, there is a selection of bands/artists who have helped shape and influence Zenlike Creature and this work would not have happened without them: Ozric Tentacles, Gong, Shpongle, Steve Hillage, Eat Static, Hallucinogen, Pink Floyd, and Hawkwind. 

The bands/artists above have taken us on some fantastic musical journeys and adventures and Zenlike Creature hopes to take you on some similar journeys too.
