La World Music n’existe pas. (n✳1) est une playlist commentée réalisée par Mona Hackel pour la Radio FM itinérante Ondorphine en août 2022 lors du festival Dixmontel.

Cette émission revient sur le terme très problématique de « World Music » (musique du monde) et propose tout simplement de le mettre à la poubelle. Sans être musicologue, ni géographe, ni même originaire des pays mentionnés, Mona vous propose une traversée musicale d’une heure sur tout le pourtour de la Méditerranée : en passant par l’Albanie, la Grèce, la Turquie, le Liban, la Syrie, la Palestine, l’Égypte, l’Algérie, la Tunisie et la Maroc. Cette sélection rassemble des musiques traditionnelles des pays concernés ainsi que des titres plus hybrides (et contemporains) : teintés d’influences trap, rock ou encore électro !

Un grand merci aux écrits d’Anouk Durocher et son article « LE MONDE C’EST LES AUTRES ? LA WORLD MUSIC EN DÉBAT » publié sur le journal en ligne Manifesto XXI qui a largement contribué à nourrir cette réflexion.

It's time for June's podcast, and it's with great pleasure, honour and respect that we welcome a legend and pioneer of free techno music, a member of the historic Spiral Tribe collective, and Network23, 69DB! 
An undisputed figure in the rave party movement, 69DB has been performing live for over 30 years all over the world, and is now bringing us a new project called Wave Arising; a blend of live improvisation, tribe, breakbeat, UK bass and experimental music, each of his performances is deliberately unique. What's more, this live show was recorded during one of the last nights at One-O-One, the late, great club based in Clermont-Ferrand for some fifteen years, and which was the driving force behind the real electronic music scene in France <3 . Needless to say, this is a very special podcast, combining several generations of what makes electronic music alive, strong and free, and above all, it will continue to resonate for a long time to come!

Sonic Interventions & Indigenous Resistance                                                                                                                                                      
                                                                  
“IR Sonic Interventions” was first broadcast on 18th July 2020, on Raskattas Radio, based in Sofia, Bulgaria. It featured Sankara Future Dub Resurgence, Dhangsha and Dub Sisters Mapu, Apachita and Esaete. For those who listened in, it was like an exhilarating live gig - raw in sound and text with punk attitude, but disciplined like a Peoples' Army on manoeuvres - everyone jumping in to take the baton then passing it on - everyone looking out for everyone else.



This is what happens when sonic experimentation and co-operation moves music and text beyond current convention. The political commentary and degree of analysis demonstrated a depth that is missing from present day dub, but not at the expense of dance propulsion. Bob Marley and his contemporaries created a framework of militant poetry with which to uplift the spirits of oppressed people. But over forty years on, it is not enough to merely REPRODUCE that template. 



As Sankara FDR say: “this is no photocopy dub.” Aside from spoken testimonies, the session was comprised of field recordings, acoustic rhythms and melodies and uncompromising programmed sequences. It was assembled using a variety of techniques: post-punk cut & paste, dub mixology and live electronic improvisation. This was in fact an ‘alternative news broadcast,’ unashamedly betraying a robust anti-colonial perspective. It was on THAT level.

Sankara Future Dub Resurgence is a group of musicians from Uganda living in  the city of Kampala and in the area near Lake Nalubaale  ,Uganda. They collaborated with  IR ::Indigenous Resistance and Dhangsha to produce the four track EP 
" IR 55 Sankara Future Dub Resurgence"  which has been released to critical acclaim and which is available on Bandcamp here https://dubreality.bandcamp.com/album/ir-55-sankara-future-dub-resurgence
