ZEROCAST

Safety Mode is a musician and producer from Russia, in the city of Tyumen.  He began his career in 2020 with releases on Try To Find Sound and Chuvstvo Ritma Rec.  Initially, he was an ordinary listener like all of us, but he always dreamed of doing something of his own and sharing it with other people.  This gave Safety Mode the motivation to start writing music.

He chose the organic / deep house genre because it most of all reflects his vision of music, which can evoke emotions even without words.  The Russian producer got inspiration from other artists' releases on Anjunadeep and ADID as well as a lot of ambient music.  He especially wants to mention the track Olgha from Taleman.

In the future, he plans to release music not only within the framework of one genre, but continue to grow as a musician and can be found with a soon-to-be EP on Canopy Sounds.

As a nomad who started travelling at a very early age GiZ has had the chance to interact with many cultures and sounds. You can tell that easily from the way she blends in everywhere she goes around the world but also in her sound which is definitely one that recognizes no borders and genres.

Her unique sound and strong presence on stage has brought GiZ to renowned venues and festivals like Kater Blau, Sisyphos, Rummelsbucht, Maxa Camp, Perola Negra, Garbicz, Bucht der Träumer or Lethargy.

In this world, some things are simply meant to be. One such thing is the wonderful symbiosis that is ACID FLORA and music.  From a simple 90’s tape deck all the way through to today’s vast and enchanting acoustic landscape, the young Swiss talent has devoted herself to finding and sculpting a signature sound that speaks to hearts and hips alike. 

With a raunchy touch of nonchalance she weaves heartfelt emotions with unapologetic ecstasy, oscillating between self-awareness and daring provocation. Driven by honesty and expression through music, ACID FLORA creates miraculous spaces in which the exploration of the self is not only allowed, but encouraged. With implicit authenticity, she invites people to let go of all conventions and immerse themselves in music. She does this by opening up herself to the people in the crowd and connecting with them in an intimate dialogue that inspires and fuels her musical selection.

Following her first booking back in 2015, ACID FLORA has been a staple at Berlin’s magnificent Kater Blau with appearances at prestigious events like the Bar 25 weekender and Kater-resident Mira’s Birthday in November ‘22. On top she's played two Stil vor Talent showcases, and secured a residency at Zurich’s world-renowned Hive Club, delivering her distinctive vibes to some of the most distinguished dancefloors in Europe. 2023 is shaping up to be another amazing year for ACID FLORA, with several confirmed international festival appearances, as well as her very first release, set to come out on Oliver Koletzki's A Tribe Called Kotori Label.

Clearly, this woman is on a ride that is bound to get a whole lot wilder in the not so distant future.

“ọba” means “king” in Yoruba, Idris’s mother’s first language, and “flip” references the flip phone Stella still carried when they met—as well as the duo’s desire to “flip things up.” They bring their disparate lived experiences together to create hard-driving eclectic sets punctuated by space and groove. Unafraid to mix genres within the electronic sphere, their sound is refreshing, with every set being wide-ranging while also matching the energy of the room. 

As resident DJs for NYC’s Zero and Armen Miran’s Reborn Project, they have played in venues such as House of Yes (Brooklyn), Knockdown Center (Queens), Cielos (California), and two of Berlin’s finest clubs—Kater Blau and Sisyphos.

Wir wünschen unseren Hörern einen super Start in das noch frische 2018. Beginnen möchten wir dieses Jahr mit einer umwerfenden musikalischen Geschichte vom Potsdamer DJ und Producer Florian Rietze.

Musik war schon immer ein wichtiger Begleiter im Leben von Florian, wurde er ja in eine Musikerfamilie reingeboren. In seiner Jugend war er in der Hip-Hop Szene unterwegs und aktiver Breakdancer. Diese Einflüsse sind seiner Musik auch immer noch anzumerken. Nach einem Besuch beim SonneMondSterne Festival 2005 war dann klar wo die musikalische Reise hingeht … ganz tief in die elektronische Musik.  

Für diesen Podcast hat sich Florian besonders viel Zeit genommen und viel Mühe in die Trackauswahl gesteckt. Er wollte mal eine längere Story erzählen, wie er selbst sagt, und dabei alle Facetten seiner musikalischen Leidenschaft präsentieren. Dabei ist eine wunderbare 2,5 stündige Reise durch die elektronische Musik entstanden, deren Stimmungsbogen seines gleichen sucht. 

Florian tausend Dank für dieses wunderbare ‚Homecoming‘, wir können nur sagen ‚Welcome‘. Und unseren Hörern wünsch wir nun viel Freude mit diesem wunderbaren Afterhour Sound.

So its a special one to me and why I made a new mix for it (and hence the interesting intro in the set which reminds me of my first venture to a warehouse party in Brooklyn :) I also remember this event being one of my favorite gigs last year; the vibe, production and enthusiasm of the event, crowd, and the ZERO family, was next level all around (which is more rare to find these days for a 3k+ person event). It was such a special moment for me to close that stage after having experienced the beauty of this festival the whole weekend before.
