Well it’s been a long time coming but finally Critical label boss and all-round entertainer Kasra has put hand to mixing desk and delivered his first full 12” release on the imprint since it began back in 2002. Not only that but he’s done it with one of the most prolific and hot property names in the scene right now, Brazilian born S.P.Y. The result as you’d expect is pure D&B thunder! ‘Surface’ rolls out seriously from the off with a snapping two-step break accompanied by paranoid pads that drift throughout the mix as an unnerving vox drops us suddenly into this no-nonsense Friday night king of the rollers. Torpedo bass stabs rule as it marches along with full force to a deep, intense breakdown that signals the second drop into a more twisted incarnation of the b-line before. Dangerous, cavernous drum & bass from two people with their fingers firmly on the pulse. Moving on and ‘Control’ is a menace from the start with a drawn out intro that sets us up perfectly for the incoming onslaught. A heavily syncopated break leads the way much like a slice of classic Photek brought smack up to date for 2011, whilst undulating bass hits make sure this one never lets go, kicking and scrapping right to the very end. Our fantastical Finnish duo that is of course Askel & Elere, or Juho Kavasto and Sainey Gibba, return with a flourish in the form of the 4-track ‘Glass’ EP. While the pair have been busy both individually and collectively, netting releases on Hospital, Fokuz and Delta9, we warmly welcome them back to Soulvent. Reprising 2019’s ‘Yeah Alright’ EP - the pair continue to evolve their slick and sophisticated sound, with this EP another clear indicator of the undoubtedly bright future ahead of them.

The title track ‘Glass’ is calm and inviting; the soft pads welcome low-passed drums and a firm hi-hat. The detuned climax is a luscious roller, providing a window into what is to come. 

‘Envelop’ splashes open with screeching synths and digital noise. This thunderingly quiet build belches forth nothing short of a bowel-churning burst of driving low end and smooth vocal cuts, perfect for decimating any dance floor in your local vicinity. 

The ever so interestingly dubbed ‘Groke’ chirrups to life with it’s gnarled topline sounding like a warped pizzicato string section. Warming rhodes, brisk breaks and a fluid sub bass frame this experimental number with both style and grace. 

Rounding things off, ‘Twice’ is so nice they named it once, but you will need at least two listens to appreciate the mastery at work. Syncopated synths and misshapen, reversed vocals meet rumbling bass and collide amongst breaks caked in white noise.

Smashing into all good stores on the 4th of September, don’t miss this shatteringly smooth release from the hotly tipped pair that is Askel & Elere.

With his first release in 1999, London based Irishman Cian McCann has long since established his place in the scene. From his early days in Dublin with the Bassbin label, to working with the likes of Calibre,4 Hero, Klute, Alix Perez, Icicle and Noisia, he has never stood still. 

2008's Cheap Shots LP for Total Science's CIA Records was a high point, with the lead track "Walk Away" bringing fellow Dubliner Steo to the worlds attention. 

Also a noted remixer, Zero T has retouched artists as diverse as Dillinja, Slam, Goldie, Sabre, Lemon D, Lenzman and Lenny Fontana.

Zero T's discography reflects the diversity that his DJ sets have always shown, ranging from full vocal smoothness to more rolling, dance floor styles. 

You are as likely to find his music on labels like Metalheadz and Shogun as on Soul:r or Signature.

2010 saw two milestones reached. The launch of Footprints; Zero T's own label, and compiling and mixing FABRICLIVE052 for the esteemed London venue.

After a short period away from the scene, 2014 saw the return of Zero T as a producer, remixer and DJ with a Metalheadz debut and a spate of collaborations with the legendary Fierce on the highly regarded Quarantine.

2015 saw the long awaited sophomore album, this time coming on Dispatch Recordings, entitled "Golden Section”, along with a glut of appearances on Shogun Audio, Soul:r, Fokuz and Spearhead.

2016/17 saw more releases on Quarantine, Metalheadz, Integral, Spearhead and Horizons, along with plenty of remixes for the likes of Lenzman, Noisia, Gerra + Stone, SATL and many more. 

The last number of years have also seen Zero T touring extensively in the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

2018 saw the release of the third Zero T album ‘Little Pieces’ on Dispatch Recordings, featuring guest appearances from Steo, DRS, Stamina, Villem and Beta 2. He also released an EP on Lenzman’s label The North Quarter entitled "Baby Grand", collaborated with Phase on Metalheadz and GLXY Shogun Audio and delivered another batch of remixes for Metalheadz, Dispatch and several other labels. 

2019 brought a debut solo 12" on 31 Recordings, a remix of Goldie, an extended EP with Beta 2 on Metalheadz, an EP with Steo on Integral, appearances on both V Recordings and Metalheadz 25 year anniversary LP's and much more!

2020 highlights included another EP on The North Quarter, a debut on Sofa Sound Bristol and the usual raft of remixes and guest appearances.
