J’aime imaginer ces âmes solitaires, brillant comme des feu-follets, chacun à des extrémités de la ville ; point lumineux que j’observe sur une carte et clignotant en même temps qu’ils se déplacent. Ainsi je peux voir, près d’une fontaine s’érigeant, Dimitri venu se prélasser face à cette impitoyable masse faite de pierres et dont l’eau débordait de tout les côtés : Cela correspondait parfaitement à lui. De sa posture, se tenant droit et fier, et de son torse dévoilé par sa chemise entrouverte, il incarnait l’image de cette eau s’élevant dans le ciel et échouant dans sa tâche à s’élever toujours plus haut. Il portait tout les jours ses chemises ainsi, laissant apparaitre son torse nu, lisse comme le ventre d’un enfant mais tacheté de traces d’encre, milliers de petits points venus dessiner ses courbes. On pouvait apercevoir aussi deux chaînes ornant son cou dont l’une plaquée or et l’autre faussement argent qu’il aimait exhiber en soulevant son menton. De cette manière, il avait l’allure de celui qui guette, celui qui sait qu’on pourrait lui lancer un couteau dans le dos et donc prêt à esquiver toute attaque. Cela lui donnait un air orgueilleux mais il cherchait un moyen d’exempt à toute fourberie ‘à son égard. Alors que Leo et Andreas commençaient à peine à s’habituer à leur solitude, Dimitri se sentait bien avec la sienne, loin de tout évènement. Posé alors près de cette fontaine qu’il aimait obsessionnellement tant, le vent fit dériver la trajectoire d’ordinaire verticale de l’eau et s’abattu sur lui. — Ils se retrouvaient donc tous sujet à la force du vent — Il s’esclaffa terriblement et Leo, sur son pont, pouvait entendre son rire à l’autre bout de la ville. “DISCARNATE” is the debut EP from QUALIATIK, NYC-based producer, performer, multimedia artist, and engineer.

QUALIATIK’s work traverses the barriers between science, psychology, and metaphysics. Their feverishly introspective music envelopes the listener in a dynamic emotional world that pulls a thread from the subconscious and unravels the folds of all internal framework. The result is a dauntless breakdown of defenses, launching the listener into an irresistible state of self-confrontation and vulnerability.

Pulling from their background in neuroscience, QUALIATIK’s work is home to a distinct conversation between the concrete and the abstract, spinning silk only found in the ether of emotions through the structural dexterity of a deep desire to understand to the point of articulation. Their work embodies this dialogue, weaving a lucid and palpable tonal fabric from the abstract urges of the intuitive, empathic subconscious to frame a razor-sharp inquiry into the innermost depths of the psyche, much like elucidating the workings of the mind through science.

The analytical thirst of a scientist is evident in their meticulous sound design and composition, yet the abstrusity of the subject of QUALIATIK’s relentless search seeps through in all aspects of their musicality. Within the sound palette, there is a sense of arduous fighting—of throwing yourself with all of your might against the chains that bind versions of you that have been locked away by trauma, seeking a nearly maternal relationship with these essences to coax them out of hiding. Clearly representative of an organic, soul-unearthing process, QUALIATIK’s work uniquely walks the line between raw vulnerability and high production value—a controlled chaos of sorts that hints at how humans might retain the deepest parts of their humanity in the face of bio-technological evolution.

“DISCARNATE” was written over the course of two years, during a time in QUALIATIK’s life that was variegated with physical, psychological, and emotional agony, sacrifice, and vulnerability. The record explores how one might access the depths of their suffering with the utmost empathy to gain strength, power, and compassion. One’s “discarnate” is the abstract, noncorporeal entities in the psyche that have a life of their own—repressed trauma, sexuality, mental illness, gender identity, personality traits—the internal burdens that have a physical pulp which can grow to be gnarled and diseased, tendriiling out to the rest of the psyche if suppressed. The EP represents the process of acknowledging and nurturing these forces, engaging with their wisdom, understanding them as gentle, and having the courage to coalesce and move forward.

Presage

Metamorphosis is a huge collection of recorded source, synthesized material and hybrid sounds. The library was created to cover a wide range of themes, with rich textures, aggressive impacts and a large selection of pass bys, bass drops, pyrotechnics and many more types of material.
All of the Recorded Section was captured at 384KHz with microphones capable of recording up to 200KHz among with more conventional mics. The resulting assets are sounds that can be stretched to new extremes for greater sound design opportunities. In many cases I took the liberty to slow down the assets while editing the sounds to deliver what I thought was the most useful version of a given recording though in most cases I have also included other takes at the original 384KHz sample rate to get the best of both worlds.
All of the Synthesized Content was created in Serum while the Hybrid Section was created by manipulating the Recorded and Synthesized sounds. Techniques such as  morphing were used to blur the lines in between the nature of the two sources, making for ambiguous yet extremely versatile material that can be employed on both realistic and abstract designs.

'HB1905 (C Minor)' is a 40-plus minute single-track piece. It takes form as a human–algorithm improvised collaboration, with both sides of the engagement contributing, in equal shares, to morphing a few key elements into a slowly yet steadily evolving windy composition.
As the track unfolds, the easygoing trance induced by relentless textural statis is interrupted by sparse, moment-to-moment glimpses of novelty — which, in context, attain disproportionately revelatory effects.
