Situate Sessions 005 - Sequent

Join us for International Women’s Day 2025, with an exclusive mix from - Azura.

Chosen for the EQ50 x 1985 Music mentee of 2023, working along side the label and its artists is a once in a lifetime offer which has been a real inspiration. Her sound ranges from deep & rolling drum and bass to soulful melancholic vibes, as well as futuristic breaks and deep dubstep.

Azura uses both music and acrylic painting to express herself and process emotions, memories, and inner struggles that cannot always be put into words. Through sound and color, she finds a way to make her voice heard – in her own unique and powerful way.

This painting reflects the feeling of being torn between identities, expectations, and the struggle to exist as more than just a construct in someone else’s world. The woman’s fragmented face and mechanical elements symbolize how society often forces women into predefined roles, stripping them of their individuality. There is a constant pressure to adapt, to mold oneself into something more acceptable —more useful.

Ultimately, this piece is not just a critique but a reminder: women are not machines, not symbols, not objects to be shaped by others. They exist in their own right, whole and unapologetic, no matter how much the world tries to break them.

Let’s all come together and honor the women who continue to shape and inspire the world of music and beyond. Happy International Women’s Day!
