➳ A hidden treasure deep in the west of South America, where a group of seven nations are all connected by the Andes Mountain range. They all share a rich history and culture that are mostly spread during the time of the Inca Empire. 

➳ We are talking about the home of six-thousand-meter mountains, majestic temples, seething volcanoes, jungles filled with a rich biodiversity and deserted deserts. Literally the largest mountain range in the world, which starts at the Caribbean’s and continuous to the land of fire. Is it true that it is more than 7.5000 kilometers long? Oh yes baby, it is!

➳ This magical piece on earth is exactly where our little adventure is about to start. Sound ranger Gabi Raiz is taking the lead and transports us more than 500 years back in time. It was a magnificent time where the largest society of prehispanic South America was spreading their culture and beliefs. Pachakuti, the ninth Sapa Inca, transformed the Kingdom of Cusco into a up and running Inca Empire. 

➳ Glorious times had to be celebrated and that’s what the Incas did. Especially once a year at the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. It was a fest filled with colorful dances, costumes, processions, and animal sacrifices to ensure a good harvest season. Already back then music connected the people throughout the whole festival. This traditional ceremony was celebrated under the one and only “Inti Rayme” and was held in honor of the god Inti (Sun). A fest which was one of a kind hence the Incas identified themselves as being the children of Inti. 

➳ Cusco, June 24th on 1457, the ceremony starts, and an electrifying energy is going around the crowd. The music is pounding, and the people are going bananas. Once the celebration hits its peak, all burning lights in Cusco had to be put out and a golden mirror became the object of interest. With the help of the sunlight the Incas enflamed a new fire. A new year was born and with its help, all fires in the city could be put on again. All to honor the sun, all to honor Inti.

➳This is a tribute to Inti, the Andeans, and the culture of the ancient Inca empire. You will be never forgotten.

These are Bruce Lee’s famous words. But what does it mean to “be water“?  Water flows and adapts. It has no plan, but deals with the environment that it finds and fully explores the space. It has no expectations of what it will find. It forgets when it leaves one space to find the next. And it always remains the same inside even as it flows and adapts outside. 
This relates to the Taoist concept of Wu Wei – knowing when to act and when not to act.  Wu Wei can be translated as “effortless doing” or “effortless action”.  It connects to the Greek concept of “Kairos” – recognising the right moment to act, and knowing in the moment the right way of acting. In order to do this, we must turn inwards and go back to our intuition, and really become good at listening to our  internal voice. This is the path to being water.

In this FREE FLOW dance we are just catching and riding the wave – nothing to know or remember or do. Imagine every song is a new place… fill it, occupy it, inhabit it, embody it. Set your body in motion and let the flow take you… and see if you can allow the changes to be easy by staying in your flow. And when in doubt: BREATHE, SOFTEN AND RELEASE.

"How many various dances of Shiva are known to His worshipers I cannot say. No doubt the root idea behind all of these dances is more or less one and the same, the manifestation of primal rhythmic energy. Whatever the origins of Shiva's dance, it became in time the clearest image of the activity of God which any art or religion can boast of."

In the deep dark forest, among slugs, spiders and squirrels, there are other creatures who once in a year all connect in one place to celebrate and thank nature, dance together and cook a beetroot soup at the fireplace. They talk about distant grounds and irrational life designs, solve their problems, hug each other and dream about a better future. They are fragile and strong, tired and full of energy, disappointed, daydreamers and full of ambitions. 

They like to jump and get crazy, but also like to sit down and take a sip of sekko soziale with a pear juice, they like to run in circles or make a little contact dance, hold each other close or dance a little swing - so I wanted to take them on a journey and make a set, which would have as many facets as a young soul who landed in the garden of Tandava that night. So there is a mix of dreamy ambient, hypnotic funky disco sounds, psychodelic folk, thought provoking lyrics, electronic music from all over the world born in different decades, and whatever else musical styles which have landed in this ecstatic set which made many forest beings dance and smile.

So, have fun and dance, listen until the end and remember "we could do well to a listen sometimes, and not to shout around about things we know nothing about"
