After providing psychedelic support for the patrons of Boom Festival in Portugal, Zevic Mishor saw the need for a formalised document on how to help those in trouble. Combining his background in neuroscience and psychology he has learnt to aid people stuck in psychedelic limbo using techniques which focus on empathetic responses. A PHD candidate at the University of Sydney, he compiles the available knowledge on facilitating the necessary support services, and collates it into the ‘Manual of Psychedelic Support’ project.

Miles Merrill / Spoken Word Poetry

The pioneer of poetry slam in Australia, Miles Merrill is a committed member of the spoken word scene Down Under. Hailing from Chicago he has delivered his own brand of poetry alongside other legends such as Saul Williams and Shane Kocyzan, and developed a myriad of programs and festivals for aspiring Australian wordsmiths. Whether it be performing in the Sydney Opera House or educating kids on the joy and benefits of poetry, Miles brings a unique and informative voice to the stage.

Actor Martin Sheen as you've never heard him before. He has appeared in over 100 films, including Apocalypse Now. He’s best known on television as President Bartlet in seven seasons of The West Wing. But Martin Sheen, born and still legally named Ramón Estévez, has had another lesser-known life as a spiritual seeker and activist. He returned to a deep and joyful Catholic faith after a crisis at the height of his fame in in mid-life. He’s been arrested over 60 times in vigils and protests. "Piety is something you do alone," he says. "True freedom, spirituality, can only be achieved in community."

In this episode I interview philosopher Evan Thompson, who is a Professor of Philosophy at University of British Columbia, mainly in the fields of cognitive science, philosophy of mind and Phenomenology. He is the author of the book Waking, Dreaming, Being: Self and Consciousness in Neuroscience, Meditation, and Philosophy. We discuss a wide range of topics, the aspects of consciousness in sleep and lucid dreaming, various scientific studies, meditation as well as get into some geeky philosophical pondering on dreams and the nature of the sense of self.
