Daughter of Ustad Vilayat Khan. First female singer from this lineage. Acclaimed for her powerful performances and the ease with which she can sing diverse genres, right from Sufi & Classical, to Jazz, Contemporary, Flamenco, and World Music.

She & Faizan Khan have established The Fez Project, particularly for the Youth. For a while now, the youth has been either having a hard time understanding, or has just been shying away from Classical music. The project aims to build a connect with them by merging Classical music with more familiar & popular genres today such as Electronic, Beat-Box, Flamenco, Rap etc. And in the process hopefully ignite a long term interest.

Zila is also a dedicated philanthropist. She runs a music institue for under privellaged children, and is also a Culture & Heritage Ambassador for the Indian Government.
