DETOURNEY is an Undertale AU based on and set in an alternate timeline of Escape from the Dark World in which the tournament never continued past WR2.

Lancer begins to have second thoughts about humoring the Lightners, and calls off the tournament. With no hope of them returning to their home worlds, they spread out across the Dark World and find a place to call their own. Barney has a premonition of what will happen if this imbalance between light and dark persists, and brings it upon himself to get the gang back together.

Barney is the Frisk replacement. Doors to each of the Lightners’ original universes open, meaning everyone can go back to their normal lives and bodies, and the Dark World can continue to exist so that its true heroes may return! Barney says his last goodbyes to the friends he’s made, unsure if he’ll even remember them when he goes back to that pub...
