Quadrant and Iris aka Leigh and Karen Caplan are drum and bass producers based in Seattle. They have had releases on Metalheadz, Hospital, Avantgarde, Fokuz and Cliché Music. Releases on Dispatch (and Dispatch LTD), Commercial Suicide and Intrigue Music are on the way!
 
Leigh has been writing quality drum and bass for nearly a decade. From his humble origins as a hungry young producer in a Philadelphia basement, to his current status as a respected artist on the worldwide scene, the goal has always been the same: make music that he is proud to call his own. 

Quadrant was originally a four-person collective, having gained modest notoriety for their bootleg of Faithless' 'Crazy English Summer'. Their debut release, 'Arachnid' came in 2005 on the legendary UK label Renegade Hardware. During the next year, they released three more tunes on Hardware, most notably 'Manipulated Living' on the Carpe Diem LP, a track that hasn't left many DJs' crates since. Following these initial successes was a highly respected slew of appearances on Triple Vision’s labels Citrus and Fokuz including the incredible Dermaphoria EP, showcasing dancefloor impact and melodic beauty– a rare combination in a genre that so often seems to favour one at the expense of the other.

Quadrant's transformation into a solo project has only served to increase the volume, quality, and focus of the music. It has also allowed for a wider variety of collaborations with artists from around the world; a co-production with like-minded producers Allied on Trust in Music, a killer remix swap with Italy's venerable Dabs on Citrus, and several works with fellow Seattle producers such as Homemade Weapons, Kid Hops and of course Iris. 

Iris found electronic music at 13, when she first heard 'Insomnia' by Faithless on Seattle’s C89.5. Since then, her love affair with the music has only intensified as she has honed a diverse set of tastes and an equally exacting repertoire of skills behind the decks. Her journey has taken her from UK hard house, into the sounds of trance and progressive, finally culminating in her current focus of deep drum and bass. 

Quadrant and Iris have been absolutely prolific with their collaborations. Their first tune, 'Anthropocene', was spotted immediately by Goldie and snapped up for the Metalheadz Genesis EP volume 4. Other collaborations with Kid Hops have been released on Hospital Recordings, Avantgarde, Fokuz and Cliché Music. Works for Dispatch, Intrigue, C.I.A and Commercial Suicide are also set for release, keep an eye on Quadrant and Iris' pages for more info (links below). With worldwide DJ support from the likes of Goldie, Nymfo, Ant TC1, Total Science, Klute, Dabs, Silent Witness, Survival, Ulterior Motive and State of Mind, this is a very exciting (and hectic!) time for Quadrant and Iris!

A consistent outlet for drum and bass since its conception in 1992, at RAM we have a huge discography which is still being added to today. As a result, it only seemed right to look back at some of our most monumental and ground-breaking releases from the last few decades.

Every Thursday, we’ll be featuring a throwback track from our collection, so you can reawaken your inner junglist and transport yourself back to the first time you heard it dropped as we #RamRewind. 

But it’s not just the music which has kept us on the genre’s forefront. Our fans have helped support RAM from its very beginnings, especially at live events. Alongside track throwbacks we’ll be posting pictures from renowned venues like the End which played a huge role in our historical heritage.

And what other way would we start then with Origin Unknown's ‘Valley of The Shadows’?

After taking a short break ‘House of Disco Records’ are back with a purpose. Not content with the adding to the plethora of ‘Disco Edit’ labels representing the genre they have opted to walk a more distinct path, determined to lean on originals or clever sampling as opposed to outright re-rubs.  In this their twelfth release they recruit previous label-mate Harry Wolfman and compadre Skinny Love to provide three stunning dancefloor ready originals. The duo have certainly delivered on the brief and turned in three diverse and clever takes on what a modern Disco track with a House soul can represent. 

On remix duties they have recruited a promising young producer ‘Kickflip Mike’, who has released on Box Aus Holz as Joschka Seibt and paired him with experienced disco merchant ‘The Revenge’ who is responsible for some of the best remixes we know of, and he doesn’t disappoint here with either remix.

Also as a cheeky bonus our buddy from New York Jkriv has crafted a remix that wil only be available to download on digital from beatport.

We continue 25 years of Solid Steel with a mix from Photek, a legendary figure in music since the early nineties who featured many times on the show with tracks from Modus Operadi, Form & Function up to Pyramid from his recent album Ku:Palm, plus 'Into the 90's' from 1994 that also featured on Coldcut's Journeys by DJ mix CD.
