Ihre zweite Orgel-Geschichte erzählt Annie Bloch gemeinsam mit Tobias Hagedorn, Komponist und Organist in Frankfurt. Sie handelt von der Orgel als Synthesizer, von ihren Idealen und auch den Nicht-Erzählungen der Orgel.

Die Komponistin und Organistin Annie Bloch geht in ihren zwei ONpodcast-Folgen den Narrativen ihres großen Instruments nach.

Annie Bloch (*1994) ist Organistin, Songwriterin und Komponistin in Köln. Sie studierte Musik und englische Literatur in Cork, Irland, dessen Biotop sie künstlerisch sowohl im Songwriting als auch in experimentellen Zugängen zur Orgel und zu Improvisation prägte. In ihrem Bestreben, der Kirchenorgel neue Kontexte zu eröffnen, performt sie solo und in wechselnden Ensembles.

Annie Bloch (*1994) is an organ player, song writer and composer in Cologne. She studied music and English literature in Cork, Ireland – a biotope that continues to shape her songwriting as well as her experimental approaches towards the organ and improvisation. Striving towards opening up new contexts for the church organ, she is performing in varying ensembles.

Minha paixão pela música eletrônica começou fora do Brasil, quando eu morava em Budapeste e comecei a frequentar festas e conhecer a cena local. Naturalmente, me interessei em começar a tocar e a pesquisar mais sobre música, começando a criar um estilo próprio. Eu navego entre vários estilos, incluindo House, Electro e até mesmo Pop, mas minha maior paixão é o Techno e suas vertentes. Tive a oportunidade de tocar algumas vezes no exterior e no Brasil, e também sou co-fundador do coletivo queer Bleak Narrative (@bleaknarrative) e hoje temos uma festa em Berlim. Para essa mix eu quis pegar um pouco mais pesado mas sem sair dos 135 bpm, escolhendo faixas com um baixo forte e sempre presente, mas sem esquecer na narrative com altos e baixos.

My passion for electronic music started outside Brazil, when I was living in Budapest and started going to parties and getting to know the local scene. Naturally, I was interested in starting to play and researching more about music, starting to create my own style. I navigate between various styles, including House, Electro and even Pop, but my biggest passion is Techno and its strands. I had the opportunity to play a few times abroad and in Brazil, and I'm also a co-founder of the queer collective Bleak Narrative (@bleaknarrative) and today we have a party in Berlin. For this mix I wanted to go a little heavier but without leaving 135 bpm, choosing tracks with a strong and always present bass, but without forgetting the narrative with ups and downs.

Laure Boer combines the expected and the unexpected. As much music as ritual, performance as spell, Boer fittingly describes her sound as ‘witchtronic’. Out of sonic abstraction emerges a system of beat, chirrup and hum, then from nowhere a voice, singing or reciting in her native French. Coming from a musical family (her mother and father were opera singer and choir director, respectively), she directs her instruments–a sprawling table full of small wooden utensils, clattering metallic objects, and stringed artefacts–to perform, pushing them into strange shapes, odd contortions, and sometimes startling beauty. Boer also works extensively in the visual arts, and has collaborated with, among others, visual and performance artist Yan Gi Cheng, musicians such as Benjamin Geyer, Igor Titenko’s Radio Vostok, and San Diego’s SKRAPEZ, with whom she released a split 8” in late 2018. Recently the Musicboard Berlin granted Laure Boer for a two-month-residency in Manila hosted by WSK, in cooperation with CTM Festival and the Goethe-Institut.

Kloxii is a music producer and visual artist who crafts introspective soundscapes and visuals that questions character and being. Born in China, based in Berlin and Los Angeles, Kloxii’s sound draws from trip-hop, industrial, and Chinese pop from her formative years, rendering it all into glittery synths and hypnotic off-kilter vocals. Kloxii has debuted on Trip hop artist Tricky’s album ‘Test of Time’ with “Shades” (2019) on False Idol Records.

Kibetan Trance

Chinabot artist Auspicious Family has teamed up with French sound artist Laure Boer for a collaborative split EP, Wayward Symmetry, created during Boer’s 2019 artist residency in Manila (Philippines), Auspicious Family’s home city.

Spanning dark ambient, noise, industrial and Krautrock, Wayward Symmetry shifts through atmospheric and textural experiments, each artist finding a meeting point between their two unique musical styles. The two return to each other on the final track, the live recording Brouillard, in which a haunting vocal cuts across atmospheric drone and improvised compositions.

Boer’s two-month artist residency in Manila, supported by the Goethe-Institut, CTM Festival and Musicboard Berlin, was designed to create a dialogue between her own work and the sound art of the Philippines. She performed in a number of clubs and festivals with local electronic musicians, including Auspicious Family. The duo played for the Closing Concert: Spectres for WSK Festival in Manila in October 27 at Rajah Sulayman Theater, Intramuros in collaboration with NUSASONIC and CTM Festival. Nusasonic is taking the initiative to invite several platforms exploring sound art from Southeast Asia and Europe,

Goethe-Institut aims to strengthen the dialogue between the people involved in creating and shaping what experimental sound cultures look like today, especially through meaningful collaborations.

Boer’s work with him is collected in Wayward Symmetry, which contains an original track from each artist, a collaborative track between the two and a live recording of a performance they made together. Although Boer has since returned to her adopted home of Berlin, the two artists continue to collaborate from afar.
