After last year’s European Summer smash ‘Canto Del Pilon’, German house giants MILK & SUGAR return with their addictive new single ‘Ready Or Not’, a call-back to their roots of funk, soul and disco music.

Whilst sampling the classic ‘Ready or Not Here I Come’, originally by The Delfonics but perhaps most known from The Fugees 1996 version, Milk and Sugar have taken the hook and transformed it into a sure fire summer anthem. Built on the foundations of a heavy bassline, a string and 70-Brass lick ‘Ready or Not’ is driven by the powerful voices of upcoming British R’n’B singer Taisa Bennet.

Working together for almost twos decades, Milk & Sugar have enjoyed great success as DJ's, producers and label owners and have been honoured with several golden records, as well as the German and Italian DJ Award. With their unique house sound, they have heated up the dance floors of the best festivals around the world such as DJ Magazine Top 10 clubs Pacha, Space and Amnesia in Ibiza, and Green Valley and Sirena in Brazil.

Dutch duo Deep Dimension debut on Rekids with a stomping vocal cut entitled ‘So 1992’ featuring a collaborative remix from label founder Radio Slave and rising star P.Leone.

Jeffrey Hek & Jimmy van de Geijn have been actively DJing for over two decades. The pair paired up as Deep Dimension in 2015, combining their talents to form a signature techno sound comprised of deep basslines and powerful kicks. Launched earlier this year, their vinyl label named GEN X has instantly picked up overwhelming support from the likes of Radio Slave, Tommy Four Seven, Benny Rodriguez, Kobosil, and many more. They now continue their upward trajectory by arriving on Matt Edwards’ respected Berlin based imprint, Rekids.

Thudding kicks are joined by rising synths as pitched up vocals come into play in ‘So 1992’– the result is a rave inspired techno monster designed to throw crowds into frenzy. On the flip, Radio Slave pairs up with Rekids regular P.Leone for a cavernous reimagining complete with rolling percussion, off-beat hats and eerie atmospherics.

For Respekt 172, we take a little dig into Spektre’s Respekt back catalogue, with a quintet of reworks from the scene’s finest.
OC & Verde kick things off with their super vibey interpretation of “Carnival of Souls” - a timely chaser to their huge Respekt hit “Mondoshawan”.
Next up to the plate is Harvey McKay, making his debut on the label with a characteristically stripped-back, no nonsense take on “Gates of Dawn”.
Manchester’s Rudosa transplants the melodies from “Forged in the Heart of a Laserbeam” onto his trademark heavy drums and rumbling low-end, whilst Hush & Sleep and Raito put their inimitable stamps on “Strobelight” and “Celeste” respectively.

Drumcode starts 2020 with a sterling EP from genre hero Thomas Schumacher, his first on the label after a long association with Adam Beyer.

No ifs or buts, if you’re a techno fan, Thomas Schumacher holds a place in your heart. His 1997 classic ‘When I Rock’ still gets rinsed, he has a vast body of stellar work on his influential former label Spielzeug Schallplatten, including a release from Adam Beyer, and he continues to deliver pin-sharp productions via his Electric Ballroom imprint, including a scorching remix of ‘The House of House’, the 1994 classic from Cherry Moon Trax. The rework was first played by Beyer at Time Warp and has been a 2019 highlight.

He first contributed to Drumcode in 2018 with ‘The Unseen’, a stirring contribution to ‘A-Sides Vol.7’, setting up a maiden EP with ‘Crimson’. Beginning with the brilliant ‘Feist’, it’s a no-nonsense brain melter, as 303 arpeggios bloom and recede, creating a thrilling rhythmic intensity throughout. The title track ‘Crimson’ is crafted around two minutes of tension-building synths, before a beat finally appears and a rasping deep bassline commands the dancefloor. ‘Anker’ brings the rave with eagle-eye focus, unleashing a wall of fierce acid to round out the pack.
