Chavelli discovered her love for entertainment at a very early age. Her mother, who is a musician,
stimulated that intrest and at the age of 7, she started taking flute lessons. Inspired by a female
drummer on tv, she started taking drum lessons at the age of 13. Not long after starting her
lessons, she formed her own rock band; Alter Ego, in which she was the drummer as well as the
lead vocalist. Performing a wide range of covers as well as original songs, the band quickly gained
popularity. After working on various projects, Chavelli and her sister started the popular all girl
band; LipsStick, playing both covers and original songs, resulting in an invitation to perform at a
rock show in Guyana.
Over the years Chavelli has attended numerous workshops and performed with fellow artists from
The Netherlands and the USA. One of the highlights in her young career was definitely the
workshop and performance with one of her personal heroes, Divinity Roxx.
Currently she is preforming with fellow Surinamese artist Carter, as drummer and backing vocalist.
At the start of 2018, she quit her day job and embarked on a new journey with her first solo project
under the name Ena Ulathana.
Her explanation and vision behind the name: “The name to me means comeback Chavelli. I’m
talking about the young and creative girl that I forgot about while I was working every day from 8-5.
I want to get her back. And in my upcoming EP, I will reveal who Chavelli really is. My muse , my
alter ego, Ena Ulathana.”
