Composed in November 2008, Ar-gard literally means “Air” in Thai. This piece of music is the composer’s imagining of how the air around us evokes different emotions such as happiness, jubilation or regret.

In this composition, he uses a group of notes from a set (0, 3, 6, 7), or a diminished triad with raised 5th note, to create the color of the sound. The reason being this group of notes can be developed and expanded into a variety of musical figures, symbolising our feelings and thoughts. This suggests that even though we have many moods, it is the air that influences our feelings. So the set (0, 3, 6, 7) represents air that can change into many forms and thus ideas, but still has a unity of musical structure.

This composition has three movements. Each movement is comprised of the development of a main idea and its transformation into a variety of musical idioms and structures. Thai elements such as pentatonic scales were used to create the many modes and textures. This piece is written in neo-tonality system and style.

Just A Gent - Love A Little More

A study on motivic material from Virtual Riot's 'Sugar Rush'.

I wanted to create something as original as possible while still utilizing recognizable material from the original.

This work combines core aspects of melodic dubstep with elements of downtempo drum & bass, and utilizes a less common drum & bass/2-step rhythm in the climax. The second buildup section is also a contrast to what one may usually find in similar tracks, as instead of building up it breaks down, almost disappearing before the second climax (drop).
