For the next Bedrock release, the label turns to one of the most influential figures in dance music over the last 20 years, Darren Emerson. Underworld’s classic 1993 “Dubnobasswithmyheadman” album, “Born Slippy” on the Trainspotting movie soundtrack, unforgettable remixes for The Chemical Brothers and Björk, “Scorchio” with Sasha – these are just a few examples of key creations that have captured so many people’s imaginations.

For twenty years Darren Emerson has blazed an unrivalled trail across the electronic scene, navigating a highly successful career as a DJ, producer, remixer and label owner (Underwater and Detone). Now, fresh from a brilliant remix of Paul Rutherford’s Acid House classic “Get Real”, he makes his debut on Bedrock.

“Hot Dog” is a big-room beast that evolves from ethereal pads, heavy drums, clever percussion and crazy noises, to create a hypnotic groove that builds and develops with subtle skill until brimful with tension and bursting with energy. Darren Emerson never fails to impress.

Berlin based Florian Meindl is a multi-talented talented DJ, producer, sound designer, writer and label boss (Flash Recordings), whose productions have graced labels such as Trapez, Stil vor Talent, Herzblut and Kling Klong. Here he strips things back, brings the beats to the fore, turns up the funk factor and creates an equally hypnotic and enthralling and yet distinctly different version of “Hot Dog”.

Once again, Bedrock continues to capture the essence of why electronic dance music is such an exciting prospect right now, picking up praise and support from some of the world’s most savvy and innovative forward-thinking DJs.

From the sleeve notes on Erasure Ultra Rare Trax Vol.2: "Denied a Number 1 placing Xmas '89' by Cliff Richards (sic) 'Mistletoe and Wine'. Say no more!!! Excerpt mixed by those Art of Noise People."

It is basically an old-school "Cut & Paste" remix of the extended mix, with a few overdubs. I don't know when this was originally released (probably shortly after the original song in 1989?), but it came to my attention sometime in the mid-nineties.

I have no idea if the Art Of Noise had anything to do with this unofficial remix (I kind of doubt it), but that was the claim!

The 'Colours' album by Son Kite is one of my favourite albums of all time and was a major source of inspiration for me.

Zolarium is an original Project by Stratil and Zonka, both of them two notorious Mexican DJ’s, producers and Audio Engineers. The project started in 2005 trying to create a different and new music proposal. Its creators have spent three years in putting together this different and new music proposal.

They’ve named their music as Progressive Morning Psy Trance, due to the Psychodellic Trance and Progressive Trance influence, but they have succeeded in creating a truly and original new style without losing the Psychodellic touch.

They have become increasingly well known in Mexico as they have played in several important festivals all over the Mexican territory and world. They have a couple of tracks featuring in compilations of the following labels: Plusquam Records, Y.S.E/Millennium Records, Uxmal Records, Nebular Tunes. A lot more is coming...stay tuned.
