It turns out I like genre called Motorik. Originally early German electronic music (Can, NEU!), but adopted by many more recent bands (Ultravox, Stereolab, Public Service Broadcasting). I also like Synthwave, so wanted to merge the two... this is my first attempt. A bit of a mush in places, and the strings are 'too casual', but I thought, well, whatever, right? ;)

Instruments: Roland JDXi, Yamaha DX7, MININOVA, MINIAK, Roland Jupiter X.

Humans are, understandably, anthropocentric. We automatically assume that any intelligent and evil aliens will be after us (and possibly the dolphins). This is wrong. They are after our Garden Birds! You know, those cute fluffy tweety friends always demanding peanuts? Well, when the aliens get here, they will all be gobbled up like so many cute fluffy bits of bacon... (chicken?) and forever gone.
Appreciate them while you can.

FutureDrive Radio Reboot #1

Looking out the window at the clouds in the sky on a stormy day after the Brexit vote and the election of Trump, FLOTSZAM was listening to Joni Mitchell “Both Sides Now” on her phone in the bath. As politicians who lied and divided people won, the political climate had combined with a personal crisis, surrounding her in darkness. Half underwater she tried to find hope in music and the sky. Mitchell’s clouds felt the same as hers as she had an idea, hit record and wrote “Under the Same Sky”.

Influenced by Trip Hop artists Portishead and Massive Attack, this song is a downtempo electronic and chill.

Before launching his solo project, Zolton spent many years as the guitarist and vocalist for Sydney bands, Lucid and Jetstream. After Jetstream disbanded, Zolton moved to New York where he gave music away and focused on a new career running a digital media company. During that time, he launched the music and culture website, Lost At E Minor, which was a vehicle through which to promote and encourage the talent of some Australia’s hottest emerging creatives.

At the end of 2016, Zolton moved back to Sydney and was re-invigorated to get back into creating music again. He began work on a new musical project that incorporated big 80s-styled synths, beats, and melodic hooks.
