Every month, we will be bringing you a selection of music brought to you both by members of our collective and special guests from all over. This month we are featuring a mix from B.U.G. resident DJ, DØN for the first 30 minutes, followed by this month's guest, Golden Kong.

Can you give us a brief artist bio?

A night with the darkest Techno or a sunny day by the pool with a relaxing House, Golden Kong takes the idea of dance floor music to next levels, exploring the diversity in genres from Neo Rave to Lo-fi House and Baile Funk.

Born in São Paulo, the artist was part of projects such as the French Touch duo Arcade Fighters, alongside S.lva, and was the co-founder of Solta, a label focused on Brazilian producers. Golden Kong currently lives in New York where he is part of the collective of DJs Foreign Posse and Club Scream, both promoting parties around the city.

In his career as a producer, he has had releases on labels such as Wile Out, Thunderstone Labs, among others, as DJ he has performed in important venues such as D.Edge in São Paulo and Elsewhere in New York, having also participated on radio shows like Rinse France and set released by Vice.

When was the first time you realized you wanted to be a DJ?

It was an accident when I was around 12 years old or so, a friend needed a computer to play some music at his sister's friend party and I had it, after that day I decided to keep going playing on birthday parties and other small events but only in 2012 I could see this as a possible career when I started my first DJ project, Arcade Fighters with a guy that a barely knew, but I'm here now, 10 years later still doing the same thing.

What are your inspirations as a DJ? 

DJ Marky and DJ Patife, both from Brazil, are definitely a huge inspiration for me, both amazing DJs and producers and groundbreakers.

What are your favorite songs at the moment?

It's very hard for me to pick a favorite song, one day I spend the listening to Post-Punk and K-R&B other day I'm listening to Techno and some old Brazilian Grooves. I'll pick four:

3. Niles Cooper - Oldtown Dub
4. Urias & Maffalda - Rasga

What advice would you give to up and coming DJs?

Have fun, don't give up, don't do drugs, search for your own songs, and don't wait for people to always book, you can always throw your own party!
