Over the past year, Zone Focus has been growing into an established underground music brand. We have released some great projects with awesome artists. I personally love the breakdown intersection with chopped and screwed vocals, where the track really comes into its own.

DJ PSYCHIATRE is a 25 year old producer/DJ who is located in France. He doesn't want to reveal his name revealed on the internet as he works as an intern in a public sector. Like most producers his free time is spent making music in his bedroom. His track 'How Do We Say Sorry In Klingon' is an impeccable blend of Star Trek vocal snippets, floaty piano keys and Lo-Fi percussions, making this track a real journey into Space.

Shea is from San Antonio, Texas. His production style is unique in the fact that by combining moody synths and percussion together, he creates a juxtaposed feeling on the track, sending out both warm and hazy vibes. Pool 7 is a nothing short of a perfect example of this. It was made in an Office, early 2015 by the producers QWERTY method(read about this in the interview). Whilst listening to it I could almost imagine myself poolside in some american suburban home.

Nikita is a Russian Lo-Fi producer/label owner that stands out from the crowd. His track Аутсайдер is an absolute rave weapon. The song comprises of huge piano stabs that will soar through any system with hard kick drums to compliment the overall rawness of this banger (It's no surprise his label is called Raw Russian). This one will have your audience stomping the club floor all night long.

The next artist in the 5 minutes series hails from my homeland of the UK. A resident of the capital city of London, Kanyalang is different to our other featured artists. Although his Soundcloud features some House productions, his forte definitely lies in his jungle/breakbeat style releases, which tip towards the early foundations of rave culture in the UK. 'Badman Champion' provides a nostalgic trip into 90s underground parties by combining lo-fi frequencies and breakbeat drums. So turn it up, put your lighters in the air and skank the fuck out.

Devant living in Melbourne, Australia has seen quite a bit of success in the past 6 months, releasing tracks with House for Her and Sally Traxx. I've always said that the French know their music. From French Touch to Electro, they are always at the forefront of modern electronic music in my opinion. The DJ/Producer duo Nina is no exception to this trend. The work that they produce under this alias is frequently experimental and holds a dusty aesthetic. They are one of the most pro-active musicians I have come across, with them regularly uploading tracks on soundcloud and youtube as a part of Fridance project. 'Nostalgia' showcases the producers signature sound and it is very much a Lo-Fi gem, combining wonky vocals and melodies with cracked percussion and kicks.

Since the release of L I F E - L I N E, I've been working towards the next step in Zone Focus' progression as a music brand. I wanted to bring together artist's new and old to a new various artist compilation, this time focusing on compiling similar sounds into a 5 track album. DJ Psychiatre, Vantane and No_4mat make up the foundations of the ZF family with three great dusty house tracks. Today's artist, S.Channel hails from my favourite city of Paris. Like most French producers his fresh experimental style define his releases. His personal sound has lead to him being signed to big name labels such as Blorp and Erased Tapes. His tracks are  floaty and misty electronic gems which are both captivating and interesting to listen to. His most recent project "Kepler The Dreamy Planet" is a spacey & minimalistic collection of songs, perfectly produced and arranged into a limited edition Tape and Digital release through Hungarian label "Outskirts". Sunday is a fun day on Zone Focus, so I thought I would bring you some words and music from the newest artist to be featured on Zone Focus, Florian. I believe that the German producer (hailing from Haldensleben) is one of the most pro-active figures on the Lo-Fi House scene. Aside from his own productions, he has involvement in running not one, but three labels! The first, Charmin Records for which he is the label boss, releases on both vinyl and digital formats. The second, Too Rough for Radio has previously signed friends of Zone Focus; Nikita Villeneuve and DJ Whipr Snipr. The third, Park recordings focuses on more minimal releases. Florian has kindly dedicated his track 'Risin', a 90s influenced House cut which all DJs will love.

Things have been a little quiet over here at Zone Focus recently, for that I apologise. Recently I have moved out to Ibiza to start a new job with Ibiza Spotlight. This has left me with little amounts of time to work on ZF. But fear not fans, we have some great features planned for the next few months, which i'm sure you'll enjoy. A lot has happened at ZF in the past couple of months. Mike who runs the brand has moved to Ibiza to continue working as a journalist and photographer. But he has been overseeing the next compilation release as promised from overseas. Now in July we are proud to present Compositions Vol. 2 and we couldn't be happier with the release. ZF original artists, Rowvn, Entrave and Devant have all contributed dusty gold to ZF with their tracks. We also warmly welcome Deepsmith and Adamant to the ZF family with their unique sounds. Big thanks to Pretty Mess Lab for their work on this compilation. This ends the Composition series with two great albums now on Bandcamp. But ears to the ground ZF family, we shall bring more music out soon...

A few months ago we featured the Nerang Recordings as our first label space feature on Zone Focus. The mix and the article on the site was a great success. I first became aware of label boss, DJ Whipr Snipr's work in early 2017 when I began publishing articles on Lo-Fi/Leftfield electronic music. I was particularly impressed by the drive and passion that Whipr Snipr had in his work and followed his productions and label releases closely. Later on this year he was featured on our first Compositions EP and now in September brought this deep house inspired track with a Nerang twist to the ZF table. Enjoy!

Jejüne is a South African producer bring moody vibes with a four to the floor beat. The 21 year old blends local gqom/kwaito with modern deep house. The style is crunchy of the Lo-Fi spectrum, but doesn’t lack punch in it’s House form. Alpha (the beginning) is a single on the up-coming EP release, Epicureanism. Eta Carinae is a stellar system containing at least two stars with a combined luminosity greater than five million times that of the sun, located around 7,500 light-years away in the constellation Carina.  Eta Carinae is also an artist from Brisbane, Australia. His productions are live hardware based jams borrowing sound inspiration from Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada. Hardware Wavey Acid is a piece from one of his live sets, an Acid House track with the weirdest of grooves, containing electronic samples straight out of some space age sci-fi jungle.
