I used to spend a couple weeks at my Grandparents house when I was a boy. She set a good example and taught me what was truly important in life.  The world can go off the rails but God is control and will take care of you for all eternity if you seek him out.

This song is about some kid stuck in his mom's basement surfing on the computer all day and night.  I just wants to get out and rock and dance and find his true calling.   Gibson Hummingbird, Roland drums, live cymbals, Roland DD3 delay.  I kind of liked this one.

Maniac Basement Surfer Blues

I had this song idea going through my head on a day that I was going house shopping with my cousin Ed and his wife Sally.  They were supposed to call me and when they didn't I called them.  Ed seemed in a panic because Sally was in the ER with a Gallbladder that was about to explode.... so the song in my head just took on a theme and I slapped the whole thing together in Sally's honor.  She seemed to like the song, which was a plus.

Living in Dallas and family in Ohio meant a long trip about once a year. I drove through Memphis and they had some killer rock stations!! I thought whoa! why doesn't Dallas rock that good?  I have a great system in my car, Alpine head unit, amps and a big sub in the back.  It was music heaven and Memphis always sounded the best.

Song about driving a bit risky and having to be shut down for a while to think about the consequences of what you're doing.  I've been there a few times.

All I remember about this song is the pre solo was a Tele in the left channel and a Strat in the right... it was a nice sound.

I don't know, it's just about some old dude that is breaking up with his girl.  The guys first love is drag racing but that's not going well either.  I sort of like this one for some reason.

Feeling Fine

Just an idea about mis communication between two people who get too wrapped up in their own lives

I was Jamming with a Mesa Roadster and had this heavy riff going… turned on the tape recorder to save it and worked the rest of the song out in about 10 minutes.  I was then in the shower and the words started coming to me, so dripping wet in a towel, I ran out to write them down before I forgot them!!  This song was actually the last of this whole set to be written and recorded.

No Way Home is a result of watching a Twilight Zone episode about 3 astronauts that came back to earth and they are all sitting around and smoking cigarettes which I thought was odd. The other half is the movie Apollo 13 which I recently watched, so I married the two.  The original version of this song had a commentary during the Ebow interlude about how everything was cool until one of the astronauts went back to take his smoke break and stir the 02 tanks... a bit of tragic humor there.  The original song also had a second lower vocal to give sort of an Alice in Chains vibe ... I should bring that version back as it was a cooler sound.

No Way Home

I drove an Acura RSX-S for about 14 years and finally upgraded to a VW GTI. Just as soon as I brought the GTI home the Acura started squeaking on the way to work.  I couldn't tell where it was coming from and then thought Hey! this is a good song idea!!!  This is the only song in this set with real acoustic drums.

Got a Squeak in my Car

I wanted to play drums, so my Dad buys a piano.  I didn't like it but looking back it was good.  Learned guitar at 20.  Got to the drums by 25.  My family is very musical and somewhat goofy so it all just sort of fits in place.  Mixing a song is as much work as writing and playing one.  A good song is like a good recipe, it's all flavor and balance.
