Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

No one ever comes to Vermilion Sands now, and I suppose there are few people who have ever heard of it. But ten years ago, when we went to live at 99 Stellavista, just before our marriage broke up, the colony was still remembered as the one-time playground of movie stars, delinquent heiresses and eccentric cosmopolites in those fabulous years before the Recess. Admittedly most of the abstract villas and fake palazzos were empty, their huge gardens overgrown, two-level swimming pools long drained, and the whole place was degenerating like an abandoned amusement park, but there was enough bizarre extravagance in the air to make one realize that the giants had only just departed. I remember the day. We first drove down Stellavista in the property agent's car, and how exhilarated Fay and I were, despite our bogus front of bourgeois respectability. Fay, I think, was even a little awed - one or two of the big names were living on behind the shuttered terraces - and we must have been the easiest prospects the young agent had seen for months. Lola Villa takes the time for a small journey into time and space. This is her first offering for Shango Records. These three tracks will shine like bright stars into the darkest night. La Dame, MAUGLI, Centaurus A, Richard Elcox & Matija are cosmonauts in a mysterious galaxy called “destiny”.

Dom Tilson is a DJ and Producer, born and raised in Karlsruhe, now based in Hamburg, Germany. In his productions and sets, he tries to merge his different influences into a sound full of melancholia and deep melodies, but driving at the same time. From deep down to dark tech, fast or slow, the mood is alike. 
Tiefenrausch is the second EP by Dom Tilson that now sees the light of day and differs from previous productions, which were more downtempo. The track Tiefenrausch consists of a breakbeat that carries the listener away and of distorted, glitchy sounds and melodies that give the track a melancholic and deep feel. "You look at me, right through me." The vocals underline this feeling of dazedness.

Most of the tracks on Spellbound were produced in my old basement studio in Brooklyn during the winter lockdown. I remember thinking a lot about freedom of choice, why I like music, and whether we live in a computer simulation or not (I know, I had a lot of time on my hands). Now, while these thoughts didn't yield any answers, they sure seeped into this release.

The track Cinderella really is about perseverance against the odds. The prince turns his kingdom upside down, goes from door to door, looking for his love, trying to not break that glass slipper. That night with old Cindy must feel like a long gone dream, a fairy tale, unreal, yet he won't let go ... or can't ... or chooses not to. He keeps holding onto something that ain't real. A possibly endless enchantment without knowing whether the spell is good or bad. That prince would make a fine artist!

On Repeat deals with the kind of spell that leaves you powerless, but in a good way. A magic you surrender to, a trustworthy sorcery, and also a sexy bass line, if I may say so.

"Spellbound", the title track, is actually a shower song - I sing under the shower, everyday, I cannot control it. It's like there are little tunes hidden within the white noise of the running water, and usually they go down the drain with it, never to leave the bathroom - not "Spellbound" though. That main melody was stuck in my head for days, couldn't wash it off. Very strong spell, beware!
