Years ago, you'd be walking around a festival and your eye would catch a sticker on a bumper, tent, or backpack that read WTF IS ZOOGMA? The hard-working four-piece from Oxford, Mississippi is no longer a mystery. The live electronic act has dominated the festival scene for the past few years, showing up everywhere from coast-to-coast, bringing their all-night rage fests to the fans.

Tomorrow, the band releases its second studio album, Anthems 4 Androids. The 11-track record demonstrates how years of incessant touring can result in not only technical proficiency, but a songwriting quality that only comes from pure hustle. Today, we premiere THREE tracks from the album. Three wildly different tracks that shed some light on the rising band's sound.

"Mirage" fills the hole left with last year's breakup of seminal livetronica act The New Deal. Not since Darren Shearer and Jamie Shields have we heard such tight breaks and house drumming and explosive synth sounds. "Circuitbored" is a fine example of Zoogma's deep grooves, and how they can accelerate into all-out, four-on-the-floor madness at the drop of a hat, before dropping back into the pocket. The title track gives Zoogma a chance to shine on the hip-hop tip with a guest appearance from Phantazm, whose delivery reminds us of a certain Funkee Homosapien.

This album is a stunning statement from a band who has been absolutely crushing it, lately. Their massive fall tour will be even bigger than any in the past. People won't be asking "WTF is Zoogma?" they'll be asking, "Where the fuck is Zoogma, because I gotta see 'em."

Music is often like a time capsule. Listening to different records may remind us of specific place in time. It can often take you back to a particular moment in your life or paint a picture of events that you may not have actually experienced--yet feel as if you have. Our last three records all painted a picture of us at a certain time. Each of the three have allowed us to evolve into the band we are today by building on the past while looking ahead. Our latest EP, New Era, takes much of what we have done in the past with live instrumentation, sampling, and studio production and fuses the techniques together in a unified concept. 

Stylistically the genres we're working with are some that have always been a big part of what we love to play and hear. Throughout the record you have these type of things happening (studio-based production and live-instrumentation). It's not something that's necessarily groundbreaking, but it’s a nice balance of the two-elements that feels right for the band both in the studio and on stage. We've always been a band that tries to stay true to who we are while incorporating new styles and sounds. This is a New Era for us, and it's a snapshot of our current lives through music right now.

The band is in an exciting place right now. On our time away from the road we have worked tirelessly on improving instrumental technique, sound design, production skill, and songwriting. 'New Era' is the product of that time spent, and in a way, it speaks volumes about not only this EP but also what you can expect from us moving forward. We are truly psyched about what 2016 will mean for Zoogma and very proud to show everyone what our 'New Era' is all about...Come check us out on our Zoot Suit tour, it’s gonna be nuts!

It is named after Saturn's 6th largest moon, which looks to contain the necessary components that would support extraterrestrial life. We know this because of Cassini, a spaceship sent to study Saturn, its moons, and its wonder.

Cassini's mission ended today, September 15th, so we thought it fitting to release our track Enceladus in celebration of it's 20-year quest through space.

It feels serendipitous that our 20-year journey as a band has been going on as long as Cassini has been exploring. And though Cassini's mission may be ending, ours still feels like it's just beginning 🚀 

We're grateful for this life and the ability to continue to share art + music with you all. Enjoy the new track and we'll see you on the Enceladus Tour ✌️
