@maghreban is back with his next project on @zoot-records in the shape of 12-track record 'Connection'.

"I was seeking and becoming more comfortable with connection whilst making it, rather than keeping myself to myself like I have done in the past. But the flipside of that was a deeper awareness of grief and sorrow. This is why some of the tracks have some sadness," The Maghreban said on the album, due for release on July 22.

"I wanted to put together some recent tracks that excited me, so that's what I mainly did, filling in some blanks with some older bits that I thought fit. But yes, this is mainly stuff that I enjoyed playing loud that stimulated that 'heavyness' thing that I was talking about earlier. No tears here. Well, hopefully. "

The Maghreban sits hunched over arcane hardware amid piles of records, his cranium haunted with the echoes of Satin Storm and 10 kilowatt suburban microdot nightmares. Ears not troubled by current fads, The Maghreban’s style has developed in neurotic isolation. 

Menacing yet accessible, informed by early 90s hardcore, film soundtracks and XTC records, these 2 tracks are but an opening salvo in a slew of planned 2014 releases. Stay tuned.

I wanted to kick off the new year with something fresh and exclusive to share with everyone and after the success of my first compilation Moxie Presents Vol.1 it felt only right to get cracking with a second instalment.

With the same premise as Vol.1 the 9 track compilation is made up of a collection of artists I support on my radio shows and in the clubs, with each track being an exclusive download to this compilation.

It features some up and coming artists alongside some slightly more established artists with everyone offering something totally different. I play so many different styles and I wanted to make sure this was a true reflection of that so I hope you enjoy. We’ll also be releasing some vinyl samplers later in the year so keep an eye out for that!

The Maghreban found a bunch of old cassette tapes at his dads house. One said 'Alex July 84' on it. This tape was from Alexandria, Egypt in the summer of 1984. It had some interesting music recorded on it. The Maghreban sampled a few of the tracks to make this one.

Gilb’r his idea is simple: enter the store and select the unexplored. Actually this is what we hoped for when we invited him to record a store mix. 
Not only his selection is very adventurous… Gilb’r constantly shapes the tracks (with the E&S DJR400), playing with the sounds he encounters along the way, resulting in way out mixes, expanding our ideas of the blend.

This year Gilbr’s Versatile label celebrates its 20th birthday - a label that has left a landmark in French electronic music after all those years.  Gilb’r began as a musical programmer and DJ for the legendary Parisian station Radio Nova, and continued to make a name for himself, as well as his partnership with I:Cube under the name Château Flight. Today, he is involved in so many projects and genres that others frequently refer to him as a jack of all trades in order to catch his versatile spirit. This mix introduces that spirit properly.
