Adelaide Sensual Weekend Festival Saturday Gala Night 2023 DJ Vanessa

For me & others there’s this big huge expectation of having the best music on Sat Gala Party. 

I really felt the pressure also of being watched by my idols Luis & Andrea from Spain 🇪🇸 Plus the other DJs played good music like the new hit songs of Romeo, Prince Royce, Pinto Picasso, La Noche Perfecta, Tutto Duran, Clavaito & Dicelo.

Challenge Accepted!!!
So I wanted to play other fav songs, throw in new songs, classics & include some well loved Dominican songs too but didn’t wanna be lazy DJ - play the overplayed Senor Juez, Se Te Nota & Vocales de Amor
so I surprised ppl. Luckily my preparation paid off- listening to so many songs, checking combinations & just checking my music flow and watching my dance floor, feeling the vibes, play variety and different tempos & making sure everyone’s having fun. 

Thank u so much Yassin Mutati & Ram for being my biggest cheerleaders & listening to my frustrations of how Latin dance organisers just hiring their friends (who don’t even know about bachata structure & instruments or current songs) instead of credible knowledgeable dancer DJs. 

I want to improve it, be faithful to essence of bachata & be advocate for dancers who have spent so much money & took time off for this most awaited amazing festival. I’m a lover of all types of bachata- I just want everyone to just get along & respect and admire each other’s different styles & creativity. 

I want Luis & Andrea and all those international artists to say hey Australia is up to date with their music and dancing & that we’re doing really well & they love coming here to Australia. 

Anyway, thank u so much for all the love, support & encouragement. I’m helping also creating awareness about bachata musicality to some talented interstate DJ friends so hopefully we as a collective help improve Latin dance music played at festivals & events xo 😘 💃🏻🕺🏻💜

PS This festival is heavily sensual bachateros crowd but I try to pick songs that have bachata structure with good mambo rhythmic section so Dominican/Moderna bachateros can do crazy footwork.
