일반적이지 않은 특별한 플레이 방식으로 기대를 모았던 Veldt Games 의 리듬액션 RPG 게임 ‘Dharma -Morpheus-‘ (이하 다르마)의 출시와 함께 오리지널 사운드트랙을 발매한다. 다르마는 한국 고전 설화 <이공본풀이>의 뿌리를 차용해 새로운 해석으로 풀어나가는 스토리를 보여준다. 또한 에피소드별 각기 다른 동화를 각색하여 이야기를 이어 나가며 추후 업데이트 될 에피소드도 기대하게 한다. 지독한 외로움, 강렬한 복수심, 내면적 갈등, 설레는 첫 여행 등 다르마가 가진 시나리오와 찰떡궁합을 보여주는 사운드 트랙은 아직 밝혀지지 않은 다르마의 스토리를 짐작해 보기에 부족함이 없다. 밴드 ‘은하연합’ 에서 기타연주, 작-편곡 및 믹싱에 일조했던 ‘MATH’가 모든 사운드 트랙을 총괄 담당하여 ‘MATH’ 특유의 세계관을 보여주고 있으며 향후 이어질 작품들에게도 귀추가 주목된다. 또한 남다른 주제와 노랫말로 강한 인상을 남기며 성장중인 래퍼 ‘공하임’ 과의 콜라보 트랙으로 사운드트랙을 넘어 강력한 싱글 트랙으로의 자리매김도 기대된다. 다르마는 9월 중순 iOS 와 Android 플랫폼으로 사운드 트랙과 함께 글로벌 런칭한다.

[곡소개]

01.	Criminal Ballad
극락과 지옥 사이에 위치한 아름다운 꽃밭, 서천꽃밭. 섬세한 엠비언트 질감이 돋보이는 인트로 트랙으로서 환상적인 아름다움을 가진 꽃밭의 공기를 구름위에서 관망하는듯 한 느낌을 남긴다.

02.	-Morpheus-
오묘하고 신비로운 궁이의 이야기를 한데 묶는 서정적인 트랙이다.
신비로운 공간 속 궁이의 내면적 갈등과 한 섞인 감정이 조심스럽게 묻어나온다. 강렬한 킥 드럼으로 시작을 열고 마치 악몽속으로 빨려 들어가는 듯한 마무리는 복잡미묘한 잔상을 남긴다. 

03.	서천꽃밭
평화롭고 아름다운 서천꽃밭의 가운데에서 선선한 바람을 느끼는 듯한 이 트랙은 청자로 하여금 나른한 행복에 젖게 만든다. 

04.	Sad Vengeance
<장화홍련>에피소드에 대한 트랙으로서 계모에 의해 비극적인 죽음을 맞은 ‘장화’와 그를 뒤 따라간 ‘홍련’ 의 지독한 외로움과 고독함이 스며들어 있다. 보너스 트랙으로 실린 피아노 버전은 더욱 깊은 우울함이 느껴진다. 다르마가 가진 이야기의 무게감을 느낄 수 있다.

05.	Journey Begin
타이틀곡으로 이견의 여지가 없는 이 트랙은 2번 트랙 ‘-Morpheus-‘ 의 멜로디를 차용해 보다 드라마틱하고 극적으로 풀어나간다. 어쿠스틱 기타와 플룻으로 오리엔탈한 시작을 열며 빠르고 강렬한 드러밍과 브라스, 장엄한 스트링, 종국에는 공격적인 일렉트로닉 사운드가 유연하고 폭발적으로 스며들며 강렬한 마무리를 짓는다.

06.	Marionette
으스스한 귀여운 동화를 보는 것 같은 느낌의 왈츠 곡이다. 뒤뚱뒤뚱 걷는듯 한 moog 베이스와 어딘가 귀여운 느낌의 오르골 연주는 다르마가 가진 에너지가 무겁기만 하지는 않다는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 중반부에 이르러서는 장엄하게 펼쳐지는 오케스트라 사운드가 분위기를 압도한다. 

07.	Promise Land
어쿠스틱 락 느낌의 이 트랙은 불확실에 대한 두려움과 희망에 대한 갈망 사이에서 주저하고 있는 감정을 녹여낸다. ‘애써 뒤돌아 보지 않는 발걸음’ 이라고 표현 한다면 이 트랙의 미묘한 감정선을 한마디로 설명할 수 있을 것이다. 곡의 중반부에서 터져 나오는 강렬한 신스 솔로는 어딘가 모르게 한국적인 향기마저 맴돈다. 

08.	It Might Be…
7번 트랙 ‘Promise Land’ 의 뒷 이야기를 이어 나가는 듯한 이 트랙은 잔잔한 클래식기타 연주와 피아노, 하프 등의 사운드로 후에 벌어질 사건에 대해 암시를 해주는 느낌을 들게 한다. 곧이어 폭발하는 아르페지오 신스를 듣노라면 마치 궁이가 그동안 지내온 시간들이 수십개의 주마등처럼 스치며 쏟아지는 듯 하다. 

09.	Untold Story
인도전통악기 반수리(Bansuri)연주를 시작으로 묵직한 오케스트라 사운드가 흐르는 이 트랙은 배신 당한 알리바바의 휘몰아치는 배신감과 복수심을 엿볼 수 있다.

10.	LAST MAN STANDING (feat. 공하임)
본 앨범의 가장 강력한 킬러트랙으로서 수록곡 중 가장 공격적인 트랙이다. 트랩 장르를 차용해 흥을 돋구며 후반부로 갈수록 잔혹하리 만치 공격적인 일렉트로닉 사운드들이 청자를 휘어잡는다. 이 트랙에는 특별히 래퍼 ‘공하임’ 이 피처링을 맡았으며 날이 바싹 선 랩핑과 MATH와의 케미 또한 일품이다. 음원 정식 발매 전부터 주목 받던 트랙이니 만큼 기대해도 좋을 것이다.

11.	Spoiler
10번 트랙 ‘LAST MAN STANDING’ 과 궤를 같이하는 이 트랙은 글리치합 장르로서 보다 날렵하고 날카로운 사운드를 펼친다. ‘LAST MAN STANDING’ 과 더불어 수록곡중 가장 공격적인 트랙이다. 절제된 흥겨운 리듬과 날카로운 일렉트로닉 사운드를 듣다 보면 날렵한 고단수 살인마와 육탄전을 벌이는 장면이 떠오르는 트랙이다. 

12.	Possibly Maybe
반도네온 사운드가 이끌어 가는 이 트랙은 다시 한번 불확실한 희망에 대해 풀어나간다. 6/8 박자 리듬으로 민속적인 느낌을 주며 후반부에 펼쳐지는 피아노 연주는 낭만적인 색채마저 엿보인다.

13.	Run Away
<알리바바>에피소드에서 최후의 전투를 풀어내는 트랙으로서 장엄한 대규모 전투가 그려지는 트랙이다. 쉴 새 없이 쏟아지는 퍼쿠션과 힘찬 브라스 사운드는 더할 나위 없는 장엄함을 선사한다.

14.	Crossroad Reached
엠비언트한 사운드를 시작으로 서정적인 오케스트라 사운드가 불안정한 감정을 풀어내는 트랙으로서 자신의 행동을 후회하지만 되돌릴 수 없는 궁이의 내면적 갈등을 느낄 수 있다.

The shamanic journey is a time-honored method of inner consultation. It is a way of communicating with your inner self and retrieving information. Your inner self is in constant communication with all aspects of your environment, seen and unseen. You need only journey within to find answers to your questions.

Begin your journey by sitting in a dimly lit space and wearing headphones. Reflect for a moment on the purpose of your journey, and then begin listening to the recording. Focus your attention on the drifting soundscape, then close your eyes and feel yourself being carried away by the sounds. It will take a few minutes for brain waves to synchronize with the binaural beat. Once you enter a trance state, you may experience a change in body temperature, feel energy flowing through your body, or find yourself twitching or rocking. It is not uncommon to hear sounds or voices. You may see colorful patterns, symbolic images, or dreamlike visions. 

In some cases, your journey experiences will be clear and easy to understand. At other times, your journey may be dreamlike and full of symbolism. Interpret such journeys as you would any dream. Look for possible associations related to each symbol or image. The key is to observe whatever happens without trying to analyze the experience. Like developing any skill, journeying takes practice. Nothing may happen on your first journeys. You may only experience darkness. When this happens, simply try again at a different time.
