MPathy makes his solo voice heard for the first time with an established and rousing first EP. Having already shown his caliber as a dj/producer working as one half of ʻIʼm Fineʼ, MPathy is eager to push off in his own direction to continue to challenge and provoke existing concepts of making unique and forward thinking music. With so much more to come from this young artist, "Iʼm Yours" is testament to the philosophy that drives MPathy forward.

Title track "I'm Yours" is cradled with the seductive vocals of Amy Capilari. Pressing and pushing as the track drives on, MPathy weaves teasing percussion and haunting atmospheric synth work through a bouncing bassline. Rich with emotion and steeped with provocativeness, makes for a serene groove that does not fall short of hypnotising.

Fellow labelman Soul Button has his way with one of two remixes featured on the EP. A surging beat is tamed by gentle piano chords that fall gracefully upon a strong bassline.

David Jach is responsible for the second with a tantalizing and ever harassing remix as distorted vocals are layered over progressive groove and nudging sample work.

MPathy rounds things off with the devilishly endearing ʻSerenaʼ. Swaying synth chords are brushed on as if by an artist with his palette and easel and gentle pad work adds to the texture of this thought provoking and melancholic track. Perfect for those reflective Sunday afternoons.

Antoine Garcin, AKA Acumen, is perhaps one of the hardest working men in the music business, although not for the reasons you might expect. Juggling studio-time alongside a career in pharmacy and fatherhood is no easy task, but he’s risen to the challenge with previous releases on Get Physical, Diynamic and Upon You. It also hasn’t compromised on the quality of this latest release for leena music, the nubile younger sibling of the almighty mobilee. leena has been steadily dispensing underground house and techno gems for over half a decade now, with a strong ethos on nurturing new talent from label friends and family.

Having simmered away at the periphery for quite some time, it would be misguided to say that Acumen is a newcomer, having garnered support from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and Loco Dice over the years. He’s also proven himself as a proficient selector, with gigs ranging from Berlin’s Panorama Bar to Studio 80 in Amsterdam.

The EP’s title track goes in strong with a peaktime, tech-house march through bright, single-note chord blasts and a frantic rolling drumbeat that commands the listener to the nearest dancefloor. “Internal Jungle”, on the other hand, combines chunky, low-end grooves with melancholy vocal refrains snatched from the ether, all underpinned by thick, undulating slabs of warm analogue bass. The EP ends on a high with “The Bug”, whose effervescent filtered strings and warm plucks serve to induce a sense of languid euphoria, one which is amplified by a fantastic vocal performance from Ruede Hagelstein.
