Nick Curly - The Voodoo (Audiojack Remix)

Next up for @8bit-records-mannheim, Nick Curly delves into his back catalogue and adds a timely polish to ‘The Voodoo’ and ‘No Takers’ two tracks which were favourites of his in the past few years. Remix support is the new addition to this release, which comes from Audiojack and Marco Faraone, both making their debut on 8BIT.

‘The Voodoo’ was a track which originally dropped back in 2016 to critical acclaim for its dark synths and techno energy. “With the Voodoo remix, I wanted this in a housier direction and I love what the Audiojack boys have been doing recently in that world, so I am happy I got them on this release, the remix is just perfect”..

Equally, ‘No Takers’ which came out a little later in 2018 was championed by a cross-section of luminaries such as Roger Sanchez, Hot Since 82 and Sharam. 
 “No Takers is the favourite of my own tracks of recent years. I know Marco Faraone since the early days of Cecille and I’ve wanted to reconnect with him for some time. I was curious about his techno version of this number” says Nick.

Audiojack’s interpretation of ‘The Voodoo’ carefully crafts a modern vibe really teasing out the vocal elements with stripped back percussion, tribal touches and those infamous stabs. Whilst Marco Faraone turns ‘No Takers’ into a chunky groover that will hit all the right spots.

Our next release is an EP from Janis Blume, who has already been part on one of our compilations. The artist from Leipzig has been on our radar since his first live set 3 years ago and we are happy to present you an EP with him. In addition, remixes are coming by @zuma_dionys from Russia and French born @lopalmusic who appear on down. for the first time. The result are four tracks which all transfer a different mood of downtempo music. We are super happy with the outcome of this release and are in love with the tracks. The sun sets its orange glow of dusk over a flock of seagulls in the warm breezy summer air, sending warmth and energy across the horizon. A collection of elegant flowers blossom with textures of gentle euphoria, enhancing movements with rich percussive soundscapes. The tide washes over a stream of organic elements with raw emotional resonance. All uniting in a way that can only be related by love, happiness and eternal sunshine. 

Delivering a mood that suggests to the listener to embrace the natural outstanding landscapes of this planet. The second EP release from London based label 'Interlude' introduces the artist Mazzè, a young music maker hailing from Szczecin, Poland. With a total of 5 tracks, including 2 remixes from UK duo, Fluida, and another Polish native, EnigmatiC, we bring to you today the premiere of 'She's Never Been'.

Interlude is a London-based label founded in 2019 as a creative outlet aimed to explore electronic music in some of its most unique forms, not so much club orientated, neither ambient nor downtempo, but something of an 'Interlude' between. Releasing deep, organic sounds with an emotional touch. Connecting new or up and coming music makers from around the world.

Das Spukhaus

Wir stehen andächtig schweigend vor dem Haus. Ohne Frage handelt es sich bei diesem Gebäude um ein ganz besonderes Exemplar. Es liegt weit ab vom Rest des Dorfes, am Rande einer unbefestigten Straße. Das Haus ist groß, alt und windschief. Sämtliche Fensterläden sind geschlossen und die weißen Gardinen vergilbt und verstaubt. Trotz der aufziehenden, nächtlichen Dunkelheit brennt kein Licht in diesem Haus, es sieht  einfach nur vergessen, verloren und verlassen aus. 
Kurzerhand gehen meine zwei Mitstreiter und ich zur Tür und betätigen die Klingel. Es läutet einmal, zweimal ... Nichts, absolut nichts rührt sich und es erhärtet sich unser Verdacht, dass das Gemäuer verlassen ist. Entschlossen rüttle ich an der Klinke, doch es ist abgeschlossen. Also umrunden wir erst einmal das Haus und begutachten akribisch unseren Fund. Auf der zur Straße geneigten Seite des Hauses ist ein kopfgroßes Loch in der Wand. Ich leuchte mit meiner Taschenlampe in die Öffnung und erspähe den Grundriss eines Kellers. Auf dem Boden türmt sich Schütt & Geröll und auf einem modrigen Regal stehen alte Einmachgläser, mit einem unidentifizierbaren Inhalt. Behutsam schleichen wir weiter ums Haus und entdecken auf der Rückseite einen mit  Holz vernagelten, in das Haus integrierten Schuppen. Vorsichtig klopfe ich dagegen und riskiere einen Blick hinein. Etwas erstaunt registriere ich, dass auf der mir gegenüberliegenden Seite ein altes, in seine Einzelteile zerlegtes Auto steht. Etwas Irritiert und doch hochmotiviert, gelangen wir schleichend zur letzten Hauswand. Dort erwartet uns eine, gut einen Meter über dem Boden, in die Mauer eingelassene und vor sich hin rottende Holzvertäfelung. Meine nächtlichen Gefährten & ich tauschen kurz einen Blick aus, nicken uns zu und beginnen die morschen Bretter auseinander zu drücken. Anfänglich geschieht nichts, wir erhöhen unsere Kraftanstrengungen und jeder von uns legt sich mit vollem Körpergewicht gegen das Holz. Plötzlich bricht mit einem lauten Knacken, dass untere Stück aus der Vorrichtung. Der Anfang ist getan und nun lösen sich die anderen Bretter fast wie von selbst. 
Wir betreten das Haus. Durch das Loch hinter uns strömt ein wenig Licht, doch vor uns gähnt einfach nur absolute Schwärze. Das Licht meiner Taschenlampe offenbart, dass wir uns in einer Vorratskammer befinden. Auf den Regalen liegt Zentimeter dicker Staub und Spinnweben schlängeln sich wie ein Labyrinth um die gesamte Einrichtung und die Steinwände. Urplötzlich ertönt über uns ein lautes Poltern. Erschrocken zucken wir zusammen und schauen uns im Schein der Taschenlampe beunruhigt an. Im nächsten Moment sind laute und schleifende Schritte zu hören, als würde jemand oder etwas langsam eine Treppe herab steigen. Ein kalter Wind bläst uns ins Gesicht und vollends in Panik versetzt, verlassen wir fluchtartig das Haus. Wir hören erst auf zu rennen, als wir das Haus gut einen Kilometer hinter uns gelassen haben. Aus der Ferne ist im obersten Stock des Hauses ein flackerndes Licht zu sehen. Es tanzt und wiegt sich im Wind und ich könnte schwören, einen großen und bedrohlichen Schatten hinter der Gardine gesehen zu haben. Wohnt doch jemand oder etwas in diesem Spukhaus?

Contenance & Miles Away beglücken uns dieses Mal mit einem magisch-mystischen  Set. Die Stimmung ist abwechslungsreich und spannend. Im Laufe der anderthalb Stunden ist der Vibe mal düster, dann wieder nachdenklich und harmonisch schön. Sie erzählen uns ihre unendliche Geschichte und beginnen ihre Reise im soeben beschriebenen Spukhaus. Also schnappt Euch eine Wärmflasche, kocht einen leckeren Tee und genießt mit uns den KataHaifisch Podcast 173.

A lifetime dedicated to the dance floor, between three cities; Madrid, Ibiza and Berlin.

In Madrid, he is currently one of the most active Dj's in the electronic escene, he has been part of some of the best projects nationwide, and he has gone through the best clubs, being a resident of some of the most important: Fabrik, with his monthly residency at the SuperMartXe party in its most underground version.

In 2012 he moved to Berlin, where in a short time he made a slot within the electronic scene, and start to play in some of the most mythical clubs in the German capital; Goldengate, Chalet, Arena, Brunen70, Katerholzing, Ritter Butzke, Birgit & Bier, and the famous Berlin Fashion Week 2013.

Since 2009 we can see him every summer at different parties on Ibiza. Some of its most outstanding residences would be; Bora Bora, or Lips Beach Club in 2013, Privilege in 2015, and Sunset Ashram every year.

In January 2017 he became the first Spanish DJ to perform in Ethiopia as the headliner for the Mosaic festival in Addis Ababa.
