Die gebürtige Berlinerin Isi alias Katzengold, fühlte sich bereits in jungen Jahren in den Clubs der Hauptstadt zu Hause. Irgendwann im Jahr 2017, landete sie dann im jungen Kollektiv Kom.Bass, um sich kreativ auszuleben und auszutauschen. Schon kurz darauf landete sie dann an den DJ Decks des Kollektives. Angetrieben von ihrer Liebe zur elektronischen Musik, festigte sich immer mehr ihr eigener Sound. Sie legt bei ihren Sets besonderen Wert auf Storytelling, mit besonders viel Gefühl und Emotionen. Das Zusammenspiel aus träumerischen Melodien und treibendem Sound lädt zum gemeinschaftlichen Davonschweben ein, ganz unbeschwert vom Kopf übers Herz direkt in die Füße. Deshalb beschreibt sie ihren Stil auch gerne als “Dreamer Techno”. Seit diesem Jahr ist sie außerdem im Label von 3000Grad.

Modafinil Blues finds Matthew Dear four years removed from his last LP and lost in the low-hanging gloam of Topanga Canyon. The producer and pop auteur wrote it there in the evening hours with Troy Nōka, a longtime Frank Ocean collaborator. The song hints at conceptual roadblocks requiring more than a simple or single solution; the manifestation of a meteoric spike in cognitive function, yearning for some form of collective freedom, followed by the inevitable descent into the complexity of the fix. Dear’s baritone verse acknowledges that this existential arc is flawed, and therein lies the blues. Moody and nuanced, slightly undone and hugging the curves of the canyon; a polyrhythmic glissade through cerebral fog.
