We're not the best, but we're pretty good.

Well, those boots, there's two to wear them : Zoé Martinot on drums and Geoffray Aznar on vocals and guitar. Two who sound like four ! Because Dirty Bootz is the power of a fuzz guitar played loud combined with a rough, precise drumming, savagely connected to the pace of the assembly lines, the speed of the wheels biting the asphalt of an abandoned road, the mood of some wind that would shake the branches of a holm oak or an olive tree.

If their music gathers from Skip James's old blues or the electric screams of some Kurt Cobain that would have been raised under the sticky South of France sun, it mostly sounds like the thundering surly call of duty of a duet eager to fight. On stage, the two accomplices amorously mistreat their gear and take the audience to a hidden secret place  they seem the only ones to know about. A place where dusk competes with sunshine and where westerns were soaked in the industrial flavours of an iron future.

Way aside the usual circuit of the small urban rock bands, far from the cities and their pointless hustle and bustle, Dirty Bootz sure makes a difference with its quiet radicalness and its attachment to a bunch of rock'n'roll traditions we all thought were gone : buckets of sweat, a honest smile and a goddamned soul.

Ces bottes, ils sont deux à les porter : Geoffray Aznar, aux guitares et au chant, Samuel Devauchelle à la batterie. Deux qui sonnent comme quatre ! Parce que Dirty Bootz, c'est la puissance d'une guitare fuzz jouée fort et d'une rythmique âpre, précise, brutalement réglée sur la cadence des chaînes de montage, des roues mordant l'asphalte d'une route oubliée, du vent qui souffle sur les branches d'un chêne vert ou d'un olivier.

Si leur musique pioche dans le vieux blues d'un Skip James ou dans les cris électriques d'un Kurt Cobain élevé au cagnard poisseux de l'Hérault, elle sonne surtout comme le branle-bas de combat d'un duo pressé d'en découdre. Sur scène, les deux cabochards malmènent leurs instruments pour emporter le public en un ailleurs bien à eux, où le crépuscule le dispute au solaire, où le western s'imprègne des relents industriels d'un avenir métallique.En marge du circuit habituel des petits groupes urbains, en marge des villes et de leur vaine agitation, Dirty Bootz tranche par sa radicalité tranquille et son attachement aux valeurs traditionnelles d'un rock'n'roll qu'on avait cru oublié : de la sueur, du sourire et une âme.
