Our collective has come together in Bleepsequence's fourth collaborative compilation with new efforts in manifesting the deep passions and anxieties of our fluctuating patterns of consciousness. The assignment: Forming dreams into sound. The experiment resulted in a beautiful haze of textures, lush pads, strange found sound, clicky grooves, and thoughtful moods ranging from peaceful to foreboding.

About Rage

My approach to this Wondercast was like a ride. Baguenader means strolling, but also having the hands in the pockets, it is also the name of a tree traveller. This is my personal definition of Ambient. Electronic music has many facets, beneath the dancefloor, you can evade to uncountable different sounds. My personal vision of music is like walking, my hands in the pockets, and my head in a dream. Before stepping into electronic music, I have learned traditional instruments, and have a soft spot for bowed contrabass and piano. I quickly realised that I didn’t want to be part of a band, but get the physical feel with the instrument. Working with netlabels is something I appreciate, I love the artisanal aspect of doing music, especially now that everything is run by the music industry. Not having selling objectives gives you the freedom to make what you really like. Both my parents are musicians are musicians, making big money has never been the final objective. The goal was more to jamming around fine food, and I think I have kept that spirit.

[WONDERCAST010] KHMGNFF - Baguenauder

We are happy to present the second release of our netlabel: "Bong//NN#0" is the debut of Holzmund - resident Beb.Welten. Its production was strictly based on hardware only, no DAW involved here. The two tracks are available as digital downloads, or as regular CD with printed paper slipcase.

The first track, "Bong“ actually came into existence around a decade ago, in the tough and crowded city of Rotterdam. It transports the escapist longing for space and horizon, translated into a calm and steady musical structure. Years later this first draft was unpacked in Berlin and developed into its final shape, minimalistic with extended timing and shifting rhythmic accents.

Based on a straight percussive rhythm, and a subtle background hum, „Bong“ soon gets contrasted with eighth note drumming patterns and delay variations. The arrangement resonates with an almost neurotic tension, confusing the listeners expectations, and slowly finding its way back to the basic tranquillity.

The second track, "NN#0“ is shorter and somewhat richer in sound: A simple bass line moves somewhere far away in the back, serving as rhythmic foundation. The whole piece is characterized by dubbed, delayed and overdubbed leads, evolving in careful variations. Kept in a friendly and warm tone, with a rustling, cracking and grinding feel: Ambient soundscape by Beb.Welten is paramount.

This version of my song 'Boats' was played live at MKZ, a social centre in Amsterdam, during one of the Meissie Mou taverna nights, where musicians play and everyone eats amazing food. This version is a collaboration with two extremely talented musicians called 'Dubious Folk', A. featured on the accordeon, N. featured on the violin. Both singing their hearts out with me on this track. I wrote this feeling powerless in the face of so many people dying in the mediterranean sea trying to be safe from harm. And feeling utterly privileged by where I was born. Support freedom of movement until no one is a refugee, and refuge is everywhere.
