Currently in the thick of her most hectic summer of shows so far, Lens has been firing up dancefloors and blazing our senses with her mixes for a few years… Now time for the all-important level-up as she drops her debut EP – ‘Marufo’.

Having teased us with her first release earlier this year – ‘Love The Way’ with Lally on her Hospital Mixtape – Lens zooms out to reveal a much wider spice cabinet. Named after her favourite chicken spot in The Algarve, Portugal; ‘Marufo’ showcases the same full flavour range as she does as a DJ, each cut reflecting a different side to the young Brighton artist’s energy, sound palette and influences.

‘Feels Like’ takes the lead with a contemporary, sunny-side jungle vibe. Twisting up RnB elements amid her breezy breaks, it sets the tone for a full spectrum slew that follows; ‘Give Me A Reason’ is a cosmic late-night vibe-out, ‘Marufo’ brings the piri-piri piquancy frequencies with supreme old school jungle choppiness while ‘Gun Point’ fires shots into the future, the high calibre bassline charge once again tapping into a powerful foundation sound that belies Lens’s young tenure.

Each track like a fresh new course in a banquet of spicy new-gen D&B; this will fill you up for the summer AND leave you wanting more. Don’t worry, Lens is already cooking the next batch. But like all the best meals, we’ll just have to wait…

Above all, it’s the sound of a talented individual who’s finally able to express herself and explore her musical roots with no boundaries. Something she hasn’t always been able to do.

1 More Thing caught up with E-Lisa for an interview and this exceptional mix. A journey through the styles and sounds that she’s embraced since her return to drum & bass over five years ago, it’s a full-flavour excursion with beats ranging from the likes of Sub Focus to Sl8r and stacks of E-Lisa’s own music, culminating with a beautiful unreleased collaboration with the late great Skibadee.

Formation Records is proud to welcome back Conrad Subs with his ‘Losing Control’ EP compromised of 4 blistering tracks that are an essential part of every DJs arsenal. 
Conrad Subs has been on the rise with frequent releases on labels such as Soulvent Records, Deep In The Jungle Records, Nuusic, Symmetry Recordings, Ram Records, LionDub International, Liquid V and Dread Recordings just to name a few.  

‘Losing Control’ is a deep and dirty and stomper. The ominous atmosphere layered with a dub-infused skank leads you to a groove-laden bass that carries you through the spicy drop. This concluding masterpiece is not one to be ignored.

‘Lights Out’ brings the jungle flavours and spicy basslines. The drop on this track comprised of drums brimming with groove and notes that will be ringing in listeners ears. When the bass hits, it’s pure party vibes.

‘Utter Disgrace’ is a gun-finger worthy rave weapon.  The vibrating bass synth is the focal point mutating its way through the duration alongside snappy drums, incomprehensible vocal samples, and sullen atmospheres.

The final track ‘Lets Rock’ is a devious one. By focusing his production on meticulously crafted individual elements, he forms a dancefloor rumbler filled with spacious combines jungle roots, steppy drums, and a rolling mid bass resulting in one heavy, hard hitting chunk of audio. Huge bass, huge vibes - pull it up immediately.
