Some of my favorite progressive house tunes from around late 1993/ 1994. Back then I was a regular at clubs like Golden, Swoon, Naughty But Nice, and Lakota. I was also mesmerized  by mix tapes coming out around the time from DJ's like Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman and loads of resident DJ's who never quite got the same acknowledgement as the headliners (I can remember resident DJ Grayson Shipley playing a set at Lakota in Bristol that would give any big name prog DJ a run for their money back in 1994!).

As always, I've mixed this on two Technics 1210's and an Allen & Heath Xone 22 Mixer just as God intended - No computer trickery or magic sync'ing allowed..

Stubbzie's Progressive House Classics Mix 11 (1993-94)

More top draw tunage from the early stages of the Progressive House sound. Vocals and piano's were still popular and appearing in lots of tunes, as well as pure tripped out, dubby bombs from producers like Darren Emerson, Dr Atomic and Sasha. 

This mix is a bit slower in tempo that my others, I would whack it on after the club to mong out to... 

Tracks include Dr Atomic, Inner City, B.M. Ex, Hysterix and Alexander O'Neal... 

As always, this was mixed live on 2 Technics 1210's and an Allen & Heath Xone 22 mixer. No computer trickery, just black wax and headphones.

Stubbzie's Progressive House Classics Mix 15 (1992-93) Vinyl mix

This mix was inspired by a set I witnessed Nick Warren played at Lakota, Bristol sometime in late 1996. It was around the time progressive house was evolving into progressive trance, with typical BPM's in the mid-130's. He played a full on, peak time, driving progressive and trance mix  that completely blew the roof off Lakota that night (and my frazzled brain!).

CJ Mackintosh Mixmag Mix 1992

Welcome to the first in my Progressive House Classics mix series, each of which will focus on a particular year of record release, somewhere between 1992 - 1996 - My halcyon years of clubbing and enjoyment of Progressive House. 

This mix was inspired by 2 particular Sasha mix tapes that I got my very young hands on in 1992, his classics Universe set and a Chuff Chuff set. It was the Chuff Chuff tape that really opened my eyes to the power of harmonic mixing, and as a tribute to that mind blowing moment I have blatantly mixed the exact 3 tunes in the exact same order than blew me away so much when I first heard them (Sublime, La Tour & Floor Federation). Imitation is the biggest form of flattery after all!

Hopefully the music will trigger a few tucked away memories that you had forgotten all about, it certainly did for me.

As with all my 'classics' mixes, no DJ software was used back then, just two turntables and a bog standard mixer. I hope you enjoy!
