Back in 2006, Gabe Holcombe (@lillerne), with the idea of sharing music with his close peers and friends, started a fake publishing imprint by burning mixtape/CD’s and leave them in various places around Lawrence, Kansas. Then, this solo man project moved to Chicago and developed into a tape label that reunites all varieties of music that has moved us back and forward for a while now. 

‘This mix is a small collection of label favorites and miscellaneous beautiful tracks I've encountered during the past year, as well as some forthcoming tunes on Lillerne. I've been putting out music on the label for 13 years, and I still get excited daily over the new sounds and materials I stumble upon. These are just a handful of personal discoveries via Lillerne and beyond. Like many of you we long for the halcyon days of Halloween past, when art students could proudly let their papier-mâché freak flags fly and the opportunity to console a weeping Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle outside of a chip shop late at night was always right around the corner, but reading the ominous glowing writing on the wall it seems like it will be some time before we experience that type of magic again.
We can't fix the world unfortunately, but we can give you this suitably demented recording of the spookiest member of our organisation playing for a bunch of heathens in a South London forest for last years' Halloween celebrations as a treat. Maybe if while listening to it we all focused our will on dark, arcane forces we could convince Pazuzu to drop grand pianos upon the people who have mismanaged this crisis so spectacularly. Or we could simply enjoy this mix from our Stu while staying safely inside and away from clatty plague raves. Either/or.

Iku Sakan is a Japanese electronic musician and (occasional) DJ.

Performing in the Berlin DIY / noise / improv scene, from 2013-2016, Iku started work in his home studio, culminating in three releases in 2017 - the tapes Human Wave Music (Natural Sciences); Cepheidian (Planet Almanac); and LP Prism in Us All (Japan Blues); in 2018, a tape on Atlantic Rhythms, Bloom Strings. After that, he released a 51 minute opus, Life Signs In Staccatissimo, on Open Hand Real Flames. His most recent works are the contribution on a comp EP on Workshop, and the archival release of his old recording as Sakan & Senju (with drummer Muneomi Senju) on Les Editions Japonais/Japan Blues.

He has played with Sun Araw, Anders Lauge Meldgaard, Pekka Airaksinen, Günter Schickert, among others, and currently co-runs the music studio ICECREAM MUSIC in Osaka, with Koshiro Hino (YPY/goat), and sound engineer Bunsho Nishikawa.
