They joined for a peaktime selection session at our A Joyful Noise at the end of last year, showcasing a distinct knack for finger-snapping house... so good we had to put it out for the global groovers!

It's always very touching to find musical testimonials. Over 20 years ago, my booking agency asked me to record this mix. In 2002, I was very inspired by the San Francisco scene. There were some great labels, DJs and artists there... What makes me happy is that I could still play 95% of those records. Time goes by too quickly, but I'm still as passionate and involved as ever. It was a great period, we played 100% vinyl, I scoured the record shops... This mix is an opportunity to look back on a past with tons of great memories. Our first Dimensions mix comes in the shape of an exclusive selection from Detroit rising star Jay Daniel. The Kyle Hall collaborator is one of the most exciting DJs to emerge in recent years, providing one of our favourite Boiler Room sessions of last year. 

He has exclusively delivered us a deep down and soulful mix in preparation for his much anticipated set at this summer’s Dimensions Festival. 

This mix is the first in our new series, where we will showcase the flavours of sounds explored at Dimensions through exclusive mixes from artists playing at the festival.

We will let the mix do the talking but be sure to check his mother (Naomi Daniel, is the voice behind Planet-E classics' "Stars" and "Feel the Fire,") on vocals the third track in!

A talent from an impossibly young age, Chicago producer and DJ Ron Trent began his musical career aged 14, the year he produced the febrile, wild Chicago anthem "Altered States". His production output has barely let up since, minting numerous labels and sub labels to release his and other's music, most notably Prescription Records, which helped define the smoky and jazz-indebted sound of deep house in the 1990s.
