‘When people came to the Muzic Box they specifically came there for one reason: to get their jack on. They came there to sweat and to listen to music.’ A tribute to the beginning of Chicago Deep House with a modern twist put into an EP of 3 tracks - a slice of electro-funk, feel good house and warehouse breaks. A homage to the infamous nightclub ’ The Muzic Box’ (former name ’ Warehouse’) from Chicago where Jackin’ was developed with a smile on your face. 

Click Click has been one of Berlin’s best kept underground DJs. We have been enjoying his DJ-sets so much it was natural we asked for a release. When he dropped ’The Muzic Box’  for the first time, Shir Khan immediately wanted to sign the track and there we go!

The last 2 years saw him releasing records on Green Velvet’s/Cajmere’s Cajual Records, San Franciscos OM Records or his own label Kassette Records (which he co-runs with M_Ferri). With upcoming tracks on Steve Lawlers VIVa MUSiC plus regular DJ Gigs at Berlin’s Watergate and Stattbad Wedding or Sao Paulos D.Edge, the future is looking bright for this very talented producer.

When i was around 6 my favorite show in Germany was Sesamstrasse. It was a German adaptation of the American Sesame Street. I was really crazy about the show, and I used to always watch it at my Grandparents in Germany.

The intro song was very dear to me. The lyrics went Der Die Das, Wie Weshalb Warum. Which ruffly translates to He She It, How, For what reason, Why.

The intro song spawned this Childish Curiosity in me. I had to explore everything around me. I would bang on lids in the kitchen to hear what they sounded like.

It was this song that made we want to make sounds with different objects, and experiment with early rythms. From this moment on i was engulfed in anything that made a sound.

Emerald City, the newest label venture from Jamie Jones and Lee Foss delivers a majestic second release with a new collaboration between Jamie Jones himself, DJ/composer Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra featuring the vocals of Jem Cooke. 

Kate Simko launched her London Electronic Orchestra project in 2014 and have since sold out concerts at the Britten Theatre, National Gallery, and opened the iTunes Festival 2014. Featuring live instrumentation from harp, violins, cellos, and upright bass, they create intimate atmospherics and indelible frequencies in ‘One Time Game’, a beautiful classic that is paired with a raw 909 club mix. Kate Simko and Jem Cooke first teamed up for their hit song ‘Go On Then’ that topped the charts in house music in 2012, and subsequently released tracks on Get Physical and No. 19.  Jamie invited Kate to play at his Boiler Room in Ibiza last summer, where ‘One Time Game’ was first performed alongside a string quartet and harp. The track was finished in London at Jamie’s studio.

Widely regarded as the leader of the new sound of house, Jamie Jones is renowned for his pioneering music; his cross genre band, Hot Natured; his ground-breaking label, Hot Creations; and his world-renowned event series, Paradise.

Kate Simko has carved an international career as an electronic music producer, film composer, live performer, and DJ. Getting her start on Ghostly alongside Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliot, Kate has since released on Get Physical, Hello?Repeat, Leftroom, and No. 19, and was named one of Chicago’s Top 10 DJs by XLR8R. This fall Kate has an album upcoming on Sasha’s label Last Night on Earth, and her debut London Electronic Orchestra EP on the Vinyl Factory. Jem Cooke is a singer-songwriter from London, recently signed to Sony ATV through Naughty Songs.The artwork was created by Peter Nudo who was also used for the previous Emerald City release.

Jori Hulkkonen returns with his first solo artist album under his own name in half a decade, the delightfully idiosyncratic ‘Oh But I Am’ which sees the Finnish production heavyweight on firing form..  Jori Hulkkonen has been at the heart of the global electronic music scene for two full decades now, releasing under a variety of monikers through some of the most highly respected labels around including F Communication, Turbo and My Favorite Robot. Though he has been prolific in recent years his focus has been on a number of side projects including as Sin Cos Tan, Third Culture and Nuclear Winter Garden, now he returns with his first full Jori Hulkkonen album since 2009’s ‘Man From Earth’.  ‘Oh But I Am’ is an eclectic and engaging collection of twelve songs from Jori, with influences taken from Italo disco, early 80’s pop and classic house. Written over the past few years whilst working on his band and alternative projects, the LP captures the producers love of synth heavy, pop tinged songwriting in perfect style. Opener, ‘Last Cut is the Deepest’ kicks things off with an acidic instrumental jam before launching into the etheral, balaeric workout that is ‘Waiting is All We Have’. 

There are a brace of wonderful house inspired cuts in the albums interior including the hypnotic, ‘Capetown People’, the delightfully deep and cosmic ‘Quick to Judge, Slow to Execute’ and the electro influenced ‘Songs of the Eastern World’. Jori’s inner 80’s pop star comes to the fore on the stunning ‘Ready Player One’ which is about as catchy as it gets whilst retaining a real depth and  ‘Italian Love Affair’ is another gem that transports you back to an age of uplifting, hooky electronic melodies. The LP concludes with the superbly loungy and ethereal ‘Exotica Memoirs’, leaving the listener with Jori’s trademark otherworldly vocals echoing around in the recesses of the mind.  This latest long player from scene stalwart Jori Hulkkonen truly is a triumph, a delightful mix of  soaring melodies and heartfelt vocals that weave their way through a series of rich and perfectly balance productions, enjoy!

A shiny picture disc for Slow Motion Records release number 7 - Disco Wizard by Francisco from Jolly Music. Beamed from distant satellites via 1983 and picked up by a crack team of Berlin based Italian disco commandoes, the Disco Wizard brings to mind Space, the tougher end of pre-84 Italo, guys with beards and grace Jones and Amanda Leat dancing the night away. A nagging baseline propels the track forward with alternating male and female vocals that coo and tease, whilst  twinkling refrain evokes the Giogio Morder's classic 'The Chase'. On the flip side the  dub mix strips away most of the vocals and injects some serious strut into the beats. The rougher, tougher cousin of the original to send the boys and girls wild with cosmic desire. You have been warned.
