Having gotten the sexy and spangly disco out of our systems with Spencer in Shoreditch last month, the last few weeks have seen NVWLS return to our moody subterranean roots - whether you've perused our social media, spotted our dashingly minimal posters around town or been confronted by our often inebriated flyering squad, you'll surely know by now that NVWLS are back at Plan B Basement on Friday the 11th for a house and techno showcase of serious scale and scope. We've invited not one but two of the driving forces behind Hypercolour, one of the UK's finest imprints, to play an extra-special extended back to back set that's sure to raise the roof (or technically the floor of the room above.)

In the mean time, continuing our gravitation back towards our more shadowy and atmospheric MO, our razor sharp eleventh Guest Mix has been a long time coming - but my word was it worth the wait.

Flittering between expanding his expansive and coveted acetate collection, running his own label 78 Assassins and putting shifts in as NVWLS' own mastering technician, Leeds-based producer Naigella is a busy man with music on his mind - fortunately for us, the acoustics major has found the time to throw down an all vinyl affair that's simply bellissima. Recorded organically with nowt but two Technics, a mixer and a keen ear, Naigella rustles up a feast of expansive techno purer than Saatchi's party china - expect cuts from Kassem Mosse, Adam Shelton, Kyle Hall and Marquis Hawkes in a mix that captures something truly special.

NVWLS Guest Mix #11 // Naigella

Just before the arrival of summer this year, Christian Löffler is set to release his next musical statement and autobiographical journey named “Young Alaska” on Ki Records. The German producer unveils his unique soundscapes by delivering seven tracks which are deeply rooted, once again, in harmony and emotion. Löffler's unique sound based on an intense melancholic feel brought him a busy touring schedule performing at clubs and festivals all over the world. He sticks to his calm approach to electronic music and proves, through his live-sets, that emotions control the dance floor, creating a real sense of euphoria. His experiences on the road are reflected on “Young Alaska,” which is largely inspired by these journeys and places he has visited. From the peaceful landscapes of the title track to the melodramatic heights of “Mt. Grace,” he took “Notes” back home to transfer the impressions into his music. Songs like “Beirut“, “Veiled Grey” and “Alpine Sketch” are very diverse but come together harmoniously on this release. As on his debut album, he once again collaborates with Danish vocalist Gry and Me Succeeds lead-singer Mohna on “All Comes” and “Beirut.” During the course of “Young Alaska”, Christian tells the story of his journey over the course of the past two years.

Over the last 18 months, lots of you have kept asking when Sunsets & Dolphins will be released. We're proud of the track and enjoyed making it, but at the same time it has never quite aligned itself with the vision we have for our release plans. When you write music every day, you often end up with tracks that you're pleased with, and even play out sometimes, but that you don't necessarily feel warrant a full release. 

That said, since Disclosure played it in their Essential Mix there's been a lot of love for the track, and numerous requests for it to be released. Coming from a pirate radio/rave tape youth, there was always something about those tracks that existed in isolated, out-of-reach forms... only ever heard on a single tape or sometimes only ever played by a single DJ, who had the only dubplate. 

We're not sure that's even possible any more in the digital age, but as the reaction to Sunsets & Dolphins reminded us of that, we thought it would be fun to cut it to a single dubplate and give it away to one of you. We're not the first to do it, we might not be the last. But hopefully you'll appreciate the sentiment :) Big up as always...
