The band includes the slickest of drummers; a musician that is well established in the West End music scene, a versatile bass guitarist who’s skilled in funk and jazz, a talented trumpet player who has written the score for two original musicals and a singer/songwriter/guitarist that has busked in Berlin and once sang in a Spanish/Australian girl group in Hamburg.

The first thing I did with the guitar I got at 15 was write a song what else. I'm still doing it as an old guy.

Born in San Diego California, in the U S of A, Rachel Shaw moved to Australian shores and began indulging in things musical. Growing up in Perth, Rachel originally played drums for various punk and rock bands and her relocation to Melbourne brought her together playing drums with 60's garage girl band: Doll Squad.

Discovering her passion for song writing, Rachel put down her drumsticks and picked up a guitar. This was a turning point. She began playing shows around Melbourne, collaborating with Liam Firmager, guitarist and song writer of The Kissingers, backing vocals for Plastic Palace Alice, playing keyboards for Rob and The Banks, with members of bands: Kids From Russia and Midstate Orange - all while arranging and composing her own work.

Rachel took on rhythm guitar and co-vocal duties with The Scarletons - featuring members Effigy (Peter Hardman), Killing Heidi/Non Intentional Lifeform (Adam Pedretti) and reuniting with Doll Squad bass player, Janet Wilson.

.... Fast forward and Rachel has just released her first solo EP 'Lesson' and is the songstress/frontwoman/guitarist for 'Dream Polaroid'. 

Rachel has also recorded and made guest vocalist appearances with the likes of Kim Volkman (X), Henry Hugo & the Kindred Spirits, Mark Ludwig, Henry Hugo & The Kindred Spirits, Marilyn Rose & The Thorns, Cold Harbour, Rosemary Haden, and many more. 

Rachel's own music is often described as moody and emotive, turning from the sweetest of pop, to raw- dark and sombre, and back again.

Since 2013’s debut album album ‘New Addiction’, Melbourne band 2 Inch Tape has delivered music in a manner considered prolific by today’s standards and perhaps more what you might expected from a band in the 60s or70s. And they make no apologies. The name, the feel, and the delivery is influenced by that golden age of popular music when boundaries were few and experimentation encouraged. 

With the release of ‘America’, 2 Inch Tape presents a concept album in all its glory. Inspired by the people, socio-political climate and adventures surrounding his personal pilgrimage, Simon Rigoni penned ‘America’ during a three week visit to the country in 2017. 

Throughout his journey he recorded street performers, preachers and everyday Americans to create a soundscape that combine with the songs of the album. The songs themselves explore a range of genres from folk to punk, country to rock, with a (sometimes not so) subtle nod to the location that inspired the music. 

‘America’ is 2 Inch Tape’s fourth album and follows the release of the‘Nashville Wife’ EP earlier this year ‘America’ was brought to life by  the performances of Simon Rigoni (Vocals/Guitar), Fiona Broussard (Keys/Vocals), Mark Petrilli (Bass), Julia Bebenek (Drums) and Greg Milton (Pedal Steel/Mandolin/Guitar/Harmonica). 

Notable guest performances from Samuel Cope (Hammond Organ) and Phil Carroll (Piano Accordion) assist in delivering an album that takes you on a journey from the blues harp of a street band in Venice Beach to a busking accordionist in Boston, as well as a Mandolin player in a bar in Manhattan. 

Whilst the songs exist in their own right, the preferred way to consume ‘America’ is as a whole, the way an album should be.

The Gravy Tram - With influences ranging from Elliot Smith, REM, Paul Kelly, The Church and The Shins, have built a steady foundation of urban folk. This Melbourne based trio of talented players have created a mesh of Roots and Indie with a healthy dose of the folk songwriting tradition.

Maggie Rachel Lockhart is a re-emerging Naarm/Melbourne based singer-songwriter, classically trained pianist, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, performer and emerging producer who has been engaged in the practise of music since the age of three. Her compositions are emotive, ethereal, and cinematic and have been described as uniquely captivating. 🌹 "I choose authentic music creation and live performance over data and perceived worth, based on follower statistics." 🎶

A collision point between surf, punk and lyrical candour, CRUMBE is a Melbourne-based four-piece with a well-loved sound and a whole lot of heart. Lead-singer, guitarist and songwriter Connie Ogan started playing music in Los Angeles in the 1970s. Her sound dances on the fringes of Patti Smith, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young with a raw B52s style groove and a healthy dose of the post-punk grit that has characterised Melbourne’s live scene for the past decade. Lead-singer, guitarist and songwriter Connie Ogan together with Kurt Mottershead on bass, Owen Eales on guitar and Scotty Bairdle on drums to bring her twangy, love-washed tunes to life. With a formidable cult following and a stunning debut LP ready to fly once lockdown lifts, CRUMBE are primed to bring their decade-drifting, foot-stomping sound to the rest of Melbourne.

Kurt's been playing around the Melbourne music scene since the 90s, only recently has he started writing his own material.
Kurt also performs with Crumbe and Fawkner Walking Society, and has performed with 2 Inch Tape, Cate Taylor and Tim Woodz and the Dirty Shoes.
All of these demos have been recorded on the Boss BR-80.
