This latest warbler is another perfect addition to any bass DJ’s selection.

The track itself goes by the name ‘Remember’, utilising a powerful vocal line in conjunction with cheek-slapping drum hits, gnarly subs and a precise set of processing techniques to get the mixdown pumping with almost instant impact. This is an original that is going to cause a large radius of damage, once again showing exactly why Damzy is rated so highly by those across the UK Bass scene.

With festival season well and truly upon us and the UK’s appetite for ferocious bass music growing stronger by the second, we are very excited to continue supplying the menu with scrumptious creations such as the one we have lined up for you next. We are absolutely buzzing to welcome the thunderous combination of both Spence and 1997, who have teamed up to unleash a behemoth bassy belter, taking the title ‘Break’.

This one works like a cascade of icy synthesiser designs being let loose to sizzle across a cliff-edge as bulbous LFO instrumentation and seriously well sharpened drum designs are laid down in a fearsome combo. The whole arrangement has a call and respond-like feel, giving the listener an insatiable appetite to move, making this a must have for any festival goer or performer this summer season.

For the first time ever, the International Library of African Music has been made available for artists to remix. Originally recorded by ethnomusicologist Hugh Tracey, 35,000 recordings were made across Africa between the 1920s and '70s. That alone was a staggering cultural achievement and, in tribute to Tracey's work and that of the artists he recorded, a raft of producers and artists have been brought in to reimagine the work for the Beating Heart - Malawi album (due June 3). Money raised from the project will go directly to helping the communities where the original recordings were made. Rudimental, Clap! Clap!, Kidnap Kid, Machinedrum, Luke Vibert and Throwing Shade have all contributed efforts but it was this version from My Nu Leng that piqued our interest. Taking an uplifting vocal chant, the duo build a devastating assault of low-end stabs and popping drums that explode violently across the track with each iteration. If you've ever caught My Nu Leng live, imagine that energy distilled into four minutes and 19 seconds.

Approaching a year on from their conception, Dissident Sound have already established themselves as an imprint which is ready to push the musical boundaries of bass music in the UK. After full releases from Heritage (a joint project consisting of label owners Tribalist and Agora); Sir Rah and 9TRANE, in addition to a free EP by Movement (aka Agora) and two various artists compilations, Dissident Sound kick things off in 2019 with possibly their most experimental release to date.

On Transparency Illusion, which is being premiered here on 3000 Bass, Hedchef takes no prisoners with a high-powered exercise of breakbeats, diverse rhythms and killer bass. Sitting at 125bpm, the track is a broken beat driving force of sounds which have been inspired by music from across the UK bass spectrum, delivered in an industrial style.

As one of the most exciting and 'different' labels to come out of the bustling south coast scene in the last year, the taste-making Dissident Sound crew have proved, across a plethora of releases, that they've got quite the penchant for delivering groundbreaking, dark bass-influenced music. Whether it be Breaks, Techno, Grime (and its weightless variation) or selected slithers of UK Bass, DS has become one of our favourite labels of recent times. Simply put, they release music from artists they really dig, and music they themselves hold a passion for.

Up next on the label is Bristol-based wizard Hedchef, with man-of-the-moment 9Trane on remix duties alongside Xantrax. Again showing his versatile production prowess that's been so powerful and sought after over the last year, the Trane shows no sign of slowing down. His remix of 'Transparency Illusion' translates the OG version into a slightly more dancefloor-friendly cut, utilising a really catchy, rave-influenced synth on the b-line, whilst retaining the darkness and fleeting percs of the original. Masterpiece.

Hedchef - Transparency Illusion (9TRANE Remix) [Dissident Sound] [OTW Premiere]

Following releases on Hygrade, Circular Jaw and most recently on eatmybeat, Foolproof sees Hedchef make his Dissident Sound debut in dramatic and unparalleled style. This four track EP features two high powered illustrations of his ability to deliver when exploring ranging tempos and soundscapes, in addition to the inclusion of dynamic remixes from 9TRANE and Xantrax, thus completing Hedchef's most experimental and meditative body of work to date. 

Transparency Illusion kicks things off in potent fashion, fusing components from different factions within the UK bass spectrum, to deliver a killer opener driven by moody bass, shifting drum patterns and ample use of breakbeats at 125bpm. 

On White Spot Syndrome, the Oxford born producer takes the tempo down to 110bpm for a glitchy, industrial inspired frenzy which most certainly does the psychological themed concept of the release appropriate justice. 

On remix duty 9TRANE returns to Dissident Sound for his third contribution to the label, reworking Transparency Illusion in an astute manner with the introduction of his own alluring percussion and an entrancing synth running throughout the track. 

Closing the affair, Xantrax’s remix of White Spot Syndrome showcases the Berlin based artist's more aggressive side routed from his days in the French free-party scene; a broken soundsystem as the inspiration for the progressive twisting and breaking of the track, merged with an off-beat bass driven style.

Within the UK dance music scene, there are a few people who truly qualify for legend status. By this we mean artists and DJ's that have stayed at the top of the game for extended period of time. There aren't many people ahead of the legendary DJ Zinc in this field, a DJ and producer who has overseen so many different eras of dance music, from jungle to crack house, featuring everything in between. 

How thrilling for us it was therefore when we were made aware of a brand new album project on the way. We are here today to take a brief look at this new project, which comes in as the third edition of Zinc's legendary 'Crack House' series. 

We are gifted 10 absolute heaters, including high profile collaborations with the likes of President T and Kamakaze, two MC's that have been making serious waves. There is also a wicked collaboration with the highly respected Chris Lorenzo, which we are super excited to have on the 3000 Blog channel.
