London producer Yosh continues his hot streak of putting out a twelve inch a month with typically breaksy, UK focused EP on Distant Horizons that further earmarks the emerging artist as one of the producers to watch in 2021.

Following releases on Time Is Now and an announcement on Desert Sound Colony’s Holding Hands sub-label, Yosh serves up four steppers that navigate us from the doors of the club to front left of the speaker. ‘Don’t Say’ is a fast cut of subby breakbeat-garage; the producer’s knack for emotionally stimulating vocal samples and peak-time basslines moving into the frame.

‘All That Acid’ gives squirming acid lines and stripped-back percussion, mutating the breaksy, UK energy into something more electro focused, and in doing so provides what could be the score for an old racing video game, before ‘Choose One’ takes us back into familiar Yosh territory with a cut of dreamy garage, with the odd dubby wobble for good measure.

We finish on a personal note with ‘Home’, a cut that epitomises that good feeling that can only come with returning to a place of comfort; relaxed atmospherics and 2-step rhythms providing the perfect warm up number.

The opportunities were endless, a plethora of sprawling pathways were laid out before them and as they stood perched atop the hillside they questioned and queried which one they might take. Only one path would lead them all the way back down to the foot of the mountain, up amidst the clouds they were happy and peaceful looking down at the world below and all its wonder. It was time for them to take a second and make their choice. Who knew that to choose one might be so hard... 

Yosh is set to release a new EP on Distant Horizon, a fun filled garage and rave inspired affair destined to roar on big systems and blast in the speakers of small cars. This one is an ode to everything we love.

PREMIERE: Yosh - Choose One [Distant Horizon]

Council Work founders Tom Frankel and Dayne Harper have been bubbling up through London's underground circuit with their unique take and varied influences; all the way from UKG to house, jungle and hip-hop. Over the last few years the pairing have been prolific, releasing records on Oldivibes, Fraise LDN and a string of free downloads and EPs on their own forward-thinking imprint; never becoming solidified with any one sound, yet carving a distinct and audible palette. Now the London duo drop some not so obvious garage in one of their most dynamic releases yet. 

‘Tortilla Flex’ shimmers through the speakers, understated and oozing with class. Neon painted stabs effortlessly skip through shuffled grooves and polished bass; giving the track a classic touch mixed with the flavours of contemporary UKG. On ‘Hydraulic Temperature’ the duo power through dubby stabs, warped melodies and a bass-line as smooth as melted butter - providing a fresh and elusive rhythm as the A-side comes to a close. 

Just like diamonds, conditions of intense heat and pressure formed an absolute gem of a tune as the B-side begins to spin. ‘Under Pressure’ is a visceral listening experience driven by pure emotion; elevated, tough and one of those special B-sides you never knew you needed. ‘Sessil’ brings things to a close with its acid tinged leads and crisp claps nestled amongst shuffling grooves - resulting in what feels like a hazy ride through the outer reaches of UKG and beyond.

With festival season well and truly upon us and the UK’s appetite for ferocious bass music growing stronger by the second, we are very excited to continue supplying the menu with scrumptious creations such as the one we have lined up for you next. We are absolutely buzzing to welcome the thunderous combination of both Spence and 1997, who have teamed up to unleash a behemoth bassy belter, taking the title ‘Break’.

This one works like a cascade of icy synthesiser designs being let loose to sizzle across a cliff-edge as bulbous LFO instrumentation and seriously well sharpened drum designs are laid down in a fearsome combo. The whole arrangement has a call and respond-like feel, giving the listener an insatiable appetite to move, making this a must have for any festival goer or performer this summer season.

He explained that he discovered the black & white planet long ago, and he knew that there are still secrets in this world. The planet is interdimensional, so he’d been using it to create portals to travel through space. This was news to us, so he laughed and proceeded to take us to the Sun for a skate sesh. We joked, sang songs, kickflipped, and had the happiest of times with Matt. We started calling ourselves Space Cowboys who just want to be free...

Within the UK dance music scene, there are a few people who truly qualify for legend status. By this we mean artists and DJ's that have stayed at the top of the game for extended period of time. There aren't many people ahead of the legendary DJ Zinc in this field, a DJ and producer who has overseen so many different eras of dance music, from jungle to crack house, featuring everything in between. 

How thrilling for us it was therefore when we were made aware of a brand new album project on the way. We are here today to take a brief look at this new project, which comes in as the third edition of Zinc's legendary 'Crack House' series. 

We are gifted 10 absolute heaters, including high profile collaborations with the likes of President T and Kamakaze, two MC's that have been making serious waves.
