Tru Fonix finish us up here, taking things back to the core house vibe that Libra kicked us off with. However, they also add their own polish of bass to truly make this remix their own.

Overall, Libra’s Torches EP is a shining example of how collaborations between different artists from diverse genres can benefit all parties to create something incredible. 11.Let It Rain - Dark Arrows Ft Mimi Original Mix(Khawa Recordings)

London based, Welsh/Polish House duo, Retrospekt & Platkovsky have come a long way since they first entered the scene in 2014, instantly getting the attention of BBC 6Music's Nemone on her Electric Ladyland show with their remix of Canola Tenderfoot's 'Histories'. 

Fast forward to 2016 and the pair have long since released their debut EP, a music video playlisted on cable TV in the UK and Poland, two singles (each staff picks on Beatport's 'House' genre) with remixes from the likes of Matt Fear, GRADES and Brodanse, enjoyed support on Thump/Vice, EDM.com, Eton Messy and Kiss FM, been featured on 10 Cr2 Records compilations including the iTunes Dance Chart topping 'Ibiza 2015' mixed by Boregore, Matthew Heyer and Mr Gonzo and performed alongside current heavyweights like Tiger Stripes to legends of the genre such as A Guy Called Gerald. To say it's been an exciting two years would be an understatement. 

Showing no signs of stopping now, the duo are ready for the next chapter, launching their own label, Arrivals Records, with their new single, 'Divided'. Teaming up with German singer/songwriter, Levina, the single is a deep, progressive vocal track that sits right at home in the familiar settings of a darkened dancefloor. 

Believing in the strength of visuals with music, the pair have also collaborated with award winning multi-discipline digital artist, Adam John Williams. Together they have produced a video, utilising the same projection mapping technology Adam had used in his Tate Modern featured installation, 'Perspective'. Tempo sync'd graphics, coded by Adam, were projected onto the faces of Levina, Retrospekt and Platkovsky, mapped and in real time, to create stunning imagery. 

Completing the release is the remix from the ridiculously fast rising Lopezhouse. The Spanish duo first caught the attention of Retrospekt & Platkovsky with their debut release on Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird Records and have since signed with other leaders of the scene such as Exploited Records and Tube & Berger's Kittball Records, ahead of their US tour. They take 'Divided' to an even deeper place, stripping it down and adding their own melodic elements.

In the Dreamtime, the Creator made three different types of animals. First, he created Mammals. He told them that they were to live on the land and he gave them fur to keep them warm. Then he created Birds and told them that their place was in the sky. He gave them wings so they could fly and he gave the mother birds the ability to reproduce by laying eggs. Next, he created Fish. He told the Fish they were to dwell in the water and he gave them gills to help them breathe and fins to help them swim.

When the Creator had finished, he found there were a lot of bits and pieces left over from making these three types of animals. So he joined these bits and pieces together and created Platypus. Platypus is certainly like no other creature on Earth. It has fur like a Mammal, can lay eggs like a Bird and swim underwater like a Fish.

At first the Mammals, the Birds and the Fish all lived in harmony together. However, as time went by they began to quarrel. Each group thought it was the most important.

The Mammals held a meeting. Big Bagaray the Kangaroo hit the ground with his tail and shouted. “We Mammals are the greatest! We are special because only we have fur."

"Yes, but what about Platypus?” said his wife. “He has fur."

The Mammals thought about this. They decided to visit Platypus and ask him if he would join their group and help them in their fight against the Birds and the Fish.

Platypus listened very carefully to the Mammals and replied, "Thank you very much for asking me to be a part of your family. I will think about it and get back to you with my decision."

Around the same time, the Birds held a meeting as well. Bungil the Eagle spread his wings and shouted "We Birds are the greatest! We are special because only we can fly and lay eggs.”

“Yes, but what about Mrs. Platypus?” said his wife. “She lays eggs."

The Birds thought about this. They decided to visit Platypus and ask him if he would join their group and help them in their fight against the Mammals and the Fish.

Platypus listened very carefully to the Birds and replied, "Thank you very much for asking me to be a part of your family. I will think about it and get back to you with my decision."

Meanwhile, the Fish also held a meeting. Goodoo the Murray Cod leapt out of the water, landed with a big splash and shouted. "We Fish are the greatest! We are special because only we can swim under water."

"Yes, but what about Platypus?” said his wife. “He spends most of his time under water.”

The Fish thought about this. They decided to visit Platypus and ask him if he would join their group and help them in their fight against the Mammals and the Birds.

Platypus listened very carefully to the Fish and replied, ""Thank you very much for asking me to be a part of your family. I will think about it and get back to you with my decision."

Platypus thought about what he should do for a long time. Eventually, the animals got tired of waiting for him to make up his mind and they gathered outside his home on the bank of the billabong. Each group shouting over the other that Platypus should join their special group.

At last, after the sun went down and the evening air began to cool, Platypus came out and climbed up onto a log. All the animals fell silent.

“I have given each of your offers a great deal of consideration and I have made up my mind,” Platypus said. “I am a part of each of you and, therefore, a part of all of you. That is how I want things to remain. So I thank you very much for asking me, but I have decided not to join any group."

The animals didn’t like this at all. They began to argue.

So Platypus went on, "Please! Please! Let me explain. When the Creator first made us, he made each of us different. So in that sense, each of us, in our own way, is special. But special doesn’t mean better. None of us is better or worse than their neighbour - only different. So we should respect each other’s differences and live together without fighting.”

August 8th sees Intec’s esteemed label co-heads Carl Cox and Jon Rundell both put their own unique spin on Josh Wink’s illustrious 2014 hit ‘Talking To You’, distributed via the aforementioned imprint.

This impressive two-track offering follows a whole host high quality 2016 Intec releases including the Beatport chart topping ‘Intec 100’, which last saw Carl and Jon team up to deliver a release well worthy of its billing. 

Carl Cox’s interpretation commences the release, boasting the original’s ‘I’m Talking To You’ vocal sample set to a driving Tech House rhythm with a looped-up manipulated chord riff and an abundance of squelchy acid bleeps. 

Jon Rundell’s re-work follows and ventures down more of a darker Techno route, utilising the original’s vocal sample and acidline but adding a pounding TR-909-laden groove, sinister sound effects and a clever arrangement.   

You can catch the Ovum Records label boss Josh Wink perform alongside Carl at his final ever season at Space Ibiza (every Tuesday until September 20th) on August 16th.  

‘Talking To You’ (Carl Cox & Jon Rundell Remixes) is available exclusively via Beatport from August 8th and everywhere else two weeks later.

For its 225th release Freerange welcomes this exciting Austrian producer who goes by the name Demuja, you already know him if you follow closely LYO. His "Mary Janes Theory" record caused something of a stir when it came out at the start of the year on his fledgling vinyl-only label Muja. Taking his inspiration from classic deep house but with a rough and raw approach, Demuja sit proudly alongside the likes of Ross From Friends, Mall Grab or Rimbaudian riding the new wave of fresh, contemporary house.
On his Freerange debut, the Move EP offers up four original tracks, each with their own distinct flavour. Opening the release we have title track "Move" spring into action with simple Rhodes chords floating across a crisp, driving up-tempo groove showing off the deeper side to Demuja. Next up "B.o.o.m" offers us a simple yet captivating, dancefloor-focused affair with a lone, repeating piano stab hooking us into the action. Flipping over we have "Into My Brain" which brings some acid-tinged Italo vibes and a jacking beat to proceedings whilst the closing track "Turn Me On" cuts up a much-loved Paradise Garage classic for a warm, soul-infused slice of classic, bumpy house music.

In the short time he has been with us, Agrume has been an integral part of Future Society. Griffintown Records is the new identity of long standing House music label Mile End Records, which has featured music from artists including Moscoman, Darius Syrossian, Lee Walker, Cera Alba, Raffa FL and Hector Couto.

This new release is from Griffintown Records favourite artist and US legend Roy Davis Jr. who returns to the label to appear on his eighth release.

To many a fan of House music Roy Davis Jr. is an artist who needs little introduction with a career that spans over two decades and includes releases on labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Large Records, Peacefrog Records, Rebirth and Classic.

Recently his track “Gabriel” originally released in 1996 was repressed, and already an anthem, found its way to being a top selling record of 2015. Roy Davis Jr.’s ability to write timeless records is a skill many admire and his skills behind the decks see him regularly playing international DJ sets in all four corners of the globe.

The release also features the vocals of Terry Dexter, who was first introduced to the world in 2005 by Patti LaBelle on the Tonight Show. Both a singer and actress, Terry Dexter is an influential artist who along with a chart topping solo album, has sung with Simply Red and at the Baseball World Series. Now an American icon that has performed alongside Wynonna Judd, Michael McDonald and Eric Benét, her vocals on this release are nothing less than stunning.

Also featuring are two remix versions of the original single track titled “Just A Little Bit Of Love” that are provided by Emmaculate plus Jan Pienkowski & Fadel.

Jan Pienkowski is a Canadian artist who has previously featured on Monsieur Musique, and for his callaborative remix he joins forces with Fadel, who along with previous releases on Griffintown Records has also featured music on Get Physical and Toolroom. 

Providing the second rework is a solo remix from Emmaculate who amongst other achievements has previously released on Aid to the SouLLess.

The original mix of “Just A Little Bit Of Love” is jacking house with shuffling two step hi-hats and a powerful vocal full of soul. Uplifting stabs and bass squelches provide energy to the bumping groove of this straight up dancefloor anthem with a subtle UK Garage influence.

Track two is the Jan Pienkowski & Fadel remix, which is a stripped back version of the original with the addition of some bassline funk. With the original's lead stabs cut back the vocal is given space to cut through the mix, and the track becomes deep and chic with the addition of some tribal percussion.

Finishing the release is the second remix, this time from Emmaculate who takes the track down an experimental route. Our next release ticks all the boxes, with vocal healing coming courtesy of LA by way of New York singer extraordinaire Mijan. The end result is a gorgeous re-interpretation of Agape International Choir Owner & Director Rickie Byars Beckwith’s Gospel staple “From Within.” Mijan’s brilliant delivery coupled with the songs poignant message, comes at a time in our culture where we all could benefit from a lil’ therapeutic relief from the daily onslaught of breaking news! 

“From Within” is fully loaded with true to heart lyrics, uplifting vocals & masterful production provided by House music veterans Groove Junkies and Reelsoul who collaborated on both mixes. Groove Junkies & Reelsoul Mo Hump Mix and Reelsoul & Groove Junkies Sunday Mornin’ Mix deliver that ‘sweet soulful sound’ and tight groove that the fellas are known for.  This is also the first time in 17 years that Mijan and GJs Evan Landes have collaborated since their 2000 hit “Music Is Life.”

This time around, Sterling and Wilson team up to bring you the upbeat, clapped-out, feel-good "Everybody." Complete with strings, light bass and dulcet piano chords, they're a perfect bed for Wilson's powerful and compelling vox to lay atop. We are very excited to present “Soloft” as the debut of our FM4 Unlimited Matches series: a collaboration between Colipher (the alter ego of Sebastian Kargl, multi-instrumentalist of Austrian indie band Catastrophe & Cure) and Tobias Koett, singer and head of Berlin-based rnb electronica project Ant Antic. In their first cooperation, dating back to a time when they were sharing a flat in Vienna, the two friends conjure a magical world of melancholy, where dance and pop don’t contradict each other but coexist in a wonderful symbiosis. “Soloft” is living proof that a song doesn’t need to be wrapped in kitsch and cluttered arrangements to immediately get stuck in your head: Tobias’ distinctive trademark vocals will get you hooked right away (and stay with you forever), while hazy harmonies and fluffy synth sounds gently wash over the crisp low-ends of a rumbling bassline. The minimalist instrumentation and subtle groove leaves enough room to breathe for every single sound in the arrangement, and the vocals seem to be floating effortlessly over a warm and organic texture of elaborate synth work.

Munich-based duo @RhodeandBrown aka Friedrich Trede & Stephan Michael Braun are back on fellow German label @ToyTonics for another EP. "B tru 2 u" marks the producers' fifth release over the past four years for the ever-popular imprint. It is testament to the label's belief in their artists that they can have consistent releases from a regular roster of producers who call the label home, such as Coeo, Black Loops, and of course Rhode & Brown. Just as the imprint's sound has evolved over the years, so has that of the pair of producers, who began their journey with Toy Tonics on release number 008 and are continuing it today, sixty three releases later with number 071. From more jackin', upbeat tracks to moodier, deep cuts to balearic sounds, the duo continue to develop their sound and put out music that they are feeling in the moment.

For this particular EP, Friedrich and Stephan got the raw ideas for it down while vacationing on the island of Zanzibar. On our premiere and the B2 on the record 'Iruzu Jam', the island vibes are readily apparent. From the conga and exotic percussion instrument rhythms to the bright strings and vibraphone loop, a sunny atmosphere is definitely being evoked. A simple, low, rumbling bass really solidifies the tune and makes it perfect for a beach-side set. Perhaps, if just for a few moments, this song can help us forget about the upcoming dreary weather and bring with it some of those warm summer feelings that already seem so far away.
