Tonfigur, like Sakuro's music has a double meaning. In German, it translates to a clay figure, while also the word "ton" can be used in reference to a sound. The shaping of sound as substance is of particular interest to Sakuro, as you can hear in his debut album. The double meaning you will hear, is regarding the play of dark and light, electronic and organic. With deep, booming bottom end, and sparkling and floating horns and percussion. Down-pitched and distorted vocal samples, paired with clear and crisp vocal contributions. Sakuro has spared no detail, there's something almost secretive and esoteric about the LP, it's a heavy listen that will leave you feeling light. Yes, it can do just that.

Continuing the theme of this compilation series, VAUS08 (Various Artists Under-Sound) defines our interests and serves as a showcase of unique talents, known and unknown. The music within may be our darkest offering yet, possibly due to the conception of much of it taking place during one of many peaks of human darkness. Creating an introverted version of restrained electronic music Berlin-based artist Constantijn Lange releases his second album 'Liquide' on Heimlich Musik. The album is based on sketches created in isolation during the second pandemic year. 

The compositions are characterized by self-reflection and an attempt to translate the abstract experience of listening to oneself into a concrete form. The sound of personal isolation, the necessary withdrawal from the world and the restriction of all social contacts is, therefore, less club oriented and focused on functionality than an expressive concept of ideas, rather oriented on Trip Hop, Breakbeat, Ambient and Jazz. 

The collective rediscovery of shared experience results in arrangements of melancholic but optimistic melodies recorded with vintage synthesizers, supported by complex drum patterns and diverse percussions that create a signature sound as a new liquid amalgam.

In Hindu Philosophy and some Indian religions, samskaras or sanskaras (Sanskrit: संस्कार) are mental impressions, recollections, or psychological imprints that colour one's thoughts and actions, and form the basis for the development of karma theory.
In Buddhism, the Sanskrit term samskara is used to describe "mental formations," "will," and many other concepts; in Pāli it is referred to as saṅkhāra.

According to various schools of Indian philosophy, every action, intent or preparation by an individual leaves a samskara (impression, impact, imprint) in the deeper structure of the person's mind. These impressions then await volitional fruition in that individual's future, in the form of hidden expectations, circumstances or a subconscious sense of self-worth. These Samskaras manifest as tendencies, karmic impulses, subliminal impressions, habitual potencies or innate dispositions.

It marks the end of a 17-year journey as a hobby producer. Out of hundreds of unfinished tracks, I handpicked 13 and gave them the final touches they always deserved.

The sound moves between Melodic Tech House and Melodic Techno, with hints of Deep House and Minimal. Some tracks are stripped-down and focused, others are wild and layered — a reflection of my fast-paced, chaotic past.

Honestly, I’m just happy to have this finished. It’s been a long time coming, and it feels good to finally move on — both in life and in music.
