From up here she could see the entire town, the houses lit up like a handful of tiny diamonds scattered across the horizon. It felt peaceful beneath the stars; away from the rat race of waking hours, away from the worries of daily life…

West Coast producer Dave Aju introduces us to his latest musical venture with the launch of his new artist imprint Elbow Grease Records. Taking care of the inaugural release himself, on ‘X17’ Dave pays reference to the hypothetical particle and potential Fifth Force discovery, delivering a deep and soulful cosmic trip that teeters between warm and cold textures. The lead single is joined by two versions: an ambient ‘Viiibe’ mix and a stripped back ‘Rhythm Dub’, which suit different spaces and times.

Glasgow, or shall we say, Clydebank’s Scott McKay aka Fear-E delivers his debut album on his imprint Posh End Music. On Clydeside Tales this innovative and unpretentious artist delivers a sumptuous selection of high grade production.

Clydeside Tales follows a number of releases on renowned imprints including Dark Entries, Super Rhythm Trax, Don’t Be Afraid, Hilltown Disco and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams.

Merging tried and tested dancefloor heat with more carefree groovers, delivered naturally after his many years spent down the front. His productions have seen support from Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Paul Woolford, Skream, Leftfield, and Andrew Weatherall over the years.

Perfectly timed for the reopening, this one’s for the clubs we’ve grown to miss.

"Is this the sound Sérgio?" or "Is this Sergio's sound?". The question of the questions seems silly, but it was postulated in 2019 to answer Guerrinha a new sound idea: A super appealing garage sound, so that any kind of doubt about the fact that Guerrinha's sets being fun, and that he himself would be able to mix swinging rhythms, would be eliminated. Sérgio is Guerrinha’s pseudonym for this, and since its first release in 2019 with the album “Utensílios” it has strangely become his most played alias, with a few small hits in the small Brazilian scene. After the pandemic drama, he returned in 2022 with the album "Mais Utensílios" and the single "Fantabobi / Riquititas", two releases that again grew the good problem of other djs constantly asking Guerrinha for these tracks. Now he releases the 12'' "Pelo da Churreia" via Discos Extendes, made in 2020 and containing small garage hits from that time. All this information raises the initial questions, since Sérgio is not just a pseudonym, but the curse that grew inside Guerrinha himself, sometimes it's in the appeal that “the bug catches on”.

With a solid and consistent sound, Hernan has been in the music since 2000. His first vinyl release at DK (Matthew Dekay Imprint) back in 2003 put a stone in his still prominent career.
Hernan has been playing alongside Argentina's main clubs Pacha, Crobar, and Palacio Alsina while also booked to a wide range of clubs in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru & US among others. During this period, he and his friends formed a collective of DJs named Feedback Bookings managing residences and booking international DJs, building a big part of the underground scene in Argentina.

In 2006 Hernan signed to Vapourise Records (Australia) 2 house tracks, one of them, 'Summer Emergency', was played by Nic Fanciulli at the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix hosted by Pete Tong reaching top sales for the summer season.

In 2008 Hernan joined Chas Burns aka Flow and take control over Low Pressings records, the UK's prestigious imprint created by Peace Division. Till now, Low Pressings release established and newcomers producers.

In 2009 Hernan toured the US, playing in NY, Ohio, Cleveland, and the WMC at Miami while releasing his now classic Ep 'Reach Your Soul' at Anjunadeep, also included in the mixed CD by James Grant & Jaytech (UK).

In 2011 signed the single 'Use Your Imagination' with Armada Music, and also begin his relationship with Club On Bookings, Sao Paulo based agency making Brazil the main route for his forthcoming years.

In the present, Hernan rotates his days between his advertisement production house Audiobranders, Low Pressings records, and his original & remixes duties

It’s an interesting time for Haŵs, having successfully rolled out their parties to popular venues across Cardiff and London with takeovers hosting everyone from Special Request to DMX Krew in the last year alone. Their previous releases on the label side have been more languorous and serene, with their overarching vision primarily holding a strong emphasis on building upon a bedrock of house music, and bolstered with accents of acid, breaks and other subgenres. But since their more recent event bookings have been so notably comprehensive, the sixth EP has taken that full step into developing upon the variety they champion at their parties. This next chapter of their growth actualises itself in the form of Dawl’s ‘Break It Down’ EP, a warehouse-ready, bouncy and charismatic record channelling insatiable vigour from beginning to end. 

‘Break It Down’ on the A-side is a relentless jackhammer of a track, pumped full of rich breaks and clipped acid lines. ‘Subject 91’ flattens the gas pedal even further, with a gated, spectral synth levitating hazily above the militant drums that heave the whole track forward. 

On the B-side, the brawny ‘Proton’ returns to the acidic burn of the opening track, except this one is occupied by chirping synths and oscillations of noise that seem to rise and fall with a trippy authority. Finally, highflyer and man of the moment Kosh employs his natural gift of the gab on the closing remix of ‘Break It Down’ with a raucous rhythm and a regurgitated bassline that never dwindles on its own gusto. 

Despite the substantial weight and pugnacity of this 4-tracker, the staple Haŵs euphoria twinkles through. There’s no shortage in complex drum sequencing, breaks samples and all the other frills, yet the final output is compact and neat. As Haŵs increases its vision more extensively to dance music from across the board, it seems that the best things might at times come as contradictions, and this record’s tone certainly fits the bill.

After Brexit, we thought it would be a brave attempt to snatch the Queen's interpretational sovereignty over the colour purple. So, we have named our new record just like that. Of course, this is only half the truth, as we named all six other UV050 compilation records after colours as well. The purple one, this one right here, is the second to last, completely with the wonderful artwork by Leipzig’s Doppeldenk and four tracks to dance your ass off to.
Krakow’s Chino shows us how to balance perfectly between straightforward urgency and mystic playfulness. His acidic FORBIDDEN VOICES sports just the right amount of chaos to make you go crazy on the dancefloor. Being a spiritual brother for a long time, it’s actually the first time Berliner Johannes Albert releases on Uncanny Valley with his VISION UTOPIA, a subtle House bomb, that pushes just the right buttons to trigger your desire to escape into cosmos.
Also from Berlin comes Lake People, who does what he does best with ROAMING THE STREETS: A subtle and razor-sharp track that points out that good dance music can sweeten your life everywhere, not only in the club. Finally, RVDS, one of Hamburg’s finest, blesses us with MOON OPERATOR, a deep and masterful dive into sonic sceneries that no one has ever listened to before. Except of course for your expert friends, who claim to have heard even the most obscure dreamy Acid track.

Johannes Albert - Vision Utopia

Sharing a name with an interstellar object is no small feat but today’s premiere by Aspetuck, ‘Oumuamua’ provides a bit less international intrigue and a bit more groove while being very club-friendly. Coming right out the gate, Oumuamua establishes a percussion-led atmosphere as the drum machines are in full effect, followed by the sweeping pads that we all know and love at Delayed. Reminiscent of days or universes gone past.

Oumuamua is a part of 'Distant Messanger' EP scheduled for release on March 15th via A Friend in Need.
