Mind Over Rhythm

After several weeks we are back with a new mix from our dear Dr. Snozeloova, who has previously collaborated with some episodes, especially “Relatos del Líbano”, number 65 of the series. 

This recording represents very well the sessions to which Dr Snoozeloova has accustomed us, where keyboards, organs, synthesizers and low bpms rhythms become essential elements in mixes that achieve a great eclecticism. This recording was recorded in July 2023 at Club Algoritmo, a space that has hosted a large number of musical meetings during the last time in Santiago de Chile.

In addition to her role as a dj, Dra. Snozeloova is a member of @loswawis and @santiagoanalytica. Enjoy.

Después de varias semanas regresamos con un nuevo mix de nuestra querida Dra. Snozeloova, quien anteriormente nos ha colaborado con algunos episodios, especialmente "Relatos del Líbano", el número 65 de la serie. 

Este registro representa muy bien las sesiones a las que Dra Snoozelova nos tiene acostumbrados, donde teclados, órganos, sintetizadores y ritmos de bpms bajos se vuelven elementos esenciales en mixes que logran un gran eclecticismo. Esta grabación fue registrada en Julio del año 2023 en Club Algoritmo, espacio que ha acogido una gran cantidad de encuentros musicales durante el último tiempo en Santiago de Chile.

CHBB is Chrislo Haas (former DAF member) 
and Beate Bartel (founding member of 
Einstürzende Neubauten and of Mania D) 
in 1981 released a series of 4 C-10-tapes, 
each in an edition of 50 pieces only. 

They evolved into Liaisons Dangereuses 
in the same year of 1981 with Krishna Goineau 
who moved to Düsseldorf, where he met
 Chrislo and Beate, who already were 
recording together as CHBB. 
He became the singer of their joint project, 
recording in Conny Plank’s studio.

Charles Manier(founding member of himself)
was introduced to the world in 2002 from his 
1st “12” on Ghostly records and on a compilation 
for Ersatz Audio in the same year that for us 
turned our attention in his direction as the 
most important and significant hero who became 
the future face of inspiration of CHBB/Liaisons signature style of sound.

from their brilliant minds and hearts that’s 
4 1/2 hours long on this fantastic voyage 
from Traxx playing material from his personal

Studio Insert 6- An Exhibition of CHBB aka Liaisons Dangerueses meets Charles Manier

Ambient dub is an electronic fusion of ambient and dub reggae, featuring the atmosphere of the former and the Jamaican style basslines, percussion, and psychedelic production techniques of the latter. The name of the genre was coined by the Beyond label with a series of compilation albums of the same name, starting with Ambient Dub Volume 1: The Big Chill in 1992. Waveform Records was also generally considered to be the American counterpart of the Beyond label out of the UK, which was exclusively devoted to the Ambient Dub movement. While the lines are blurred between these electronic genres, ambient dub can genuinely be discerned by its denser atmospheres, slow tempo, a heavier use of reverb and/or delay, and an emphasis on bass akin to traditional dub. It also echoed dub pioneers who used their studio as an instrument, like King Tubby and The Scientist.

Ambient - Dub : The Big chill (1992 - 1996)

In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more. A Magnificent Time [Mix/July 2024]

In the early 1990s, Warp became associated with the UK's northern bleep techno scene, including acts such as LFO, Sweet Exorcist, Forgemasters and Nightmares on Wax. The 1992 label compilation Artificial Intelligence helped establish the electronic subgenre known as intelligent dance music (IDM). Subsequently, Warp became the home of influential acts such as Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, and Boards of Canada.

British electronic label Warp was founded by Steve Beckett, Rob Mitchell  (RIP 2001), and Robert Gordon, Warp (originally to be named Warped, but shortened for communication ease, and later expanded by the backronym "We Are Reasonable People"), is one of the world's most respected, influential, and loved electronic/experimental dance labels of all times. After many years in Sheffield, UK, they later moved to and are based in London, UK.

Bleep.com, Warp's digital music sales site, was also pioneering in being amongst the first to provide high-quality variable bit rate MP3s for sale (later FLAC and other lossless formats). 

To commemorate the 35 years anniversary of the label, I made this mix of some of their lesser known classics, remixes and their influences. I am aware this ain't easy to listen, some of these tracks, like Pathfinder are quite experimental but it's Warp! 3 h 29 minutes mix and 45 tracks.
