Having welcomed and supported the Hit & Run and Hoya:Hoya club nights at FABRICLIVE for a number of years now, it’d be a fair snap assumption to say that we’re interested in the output of a set of very clued up Mancunians. But this Friday we welcome another side of the city: the vocal side. With the multi-talented emcee, DRS having become a solid and near omnipresent voice in our venue, we’ve long heard the distinctive Manchester accent booming out of our custom made rigs, but the LEVELZ crew are collectively so much more than a set of colloquialisms delivered with verve and in a northern twang. They’ve proven already that there’s a fantastic set of vocalists, poets and emcees within the city limits with their live streams, sets on radio and this video so we’re super excited to be welcoming their faction into Room Two this Friday (22nd May) – especially when JME and co. are performing in Room One.

To celebrate the occasion and toast the successful LVLZ tour that is currently bubbling, resident DJ, Jonny Dub has put together a raucous mixtape that features the vocal talents of most of the LEVELZ crew. A unique, often brutal and exciting example of the energy they bring to the club, it’s a vital listen if you’re looking to make your Tuesday afternoon a little more exciting.

Jonny Dub is regarded by many in the know as one of the most talented DJ's to come out of his home town Manchester in the last decade. The founder of cult club night Hoya:Hoya that ran for eight years in Manchester and held a quarterly year residency at London’s premier night club Fabric for over five years. Jonny has also been a resident at one of the UK’s biggest clubbing institutions The Warehouse Project for over seven years making him one of the longer standing residents of the event. For the last few years he has been an integral part of LEVELZ as a DJ. His playing style and musical tastes are so varied and diverse that he's equally at home playing House, Techno, Garage or Afrobeat as he is playing Grime, Jungle & Hip Hop.

This mix starts off pretty chilled but don’t let that fool as as it very quickly becomes a high octane journey through UK breakbeat hardcore, Jungle, drum and bass and new bass shit that I Don’t even know what genre it fits into any more. Needless to say its a sick mix and one for the Bass heads and stamina crew. Best listened to LOUD with as much bass as you can stick in whatever quarantined setup you find yourself in. Laptop speakers just don’t cut it on this one. So enjoy the mix and keep your heads up. 2020 can eat a D but let's all try and not let the situation get us down, stay positive, spread the love and dream of good times.

Manchester Born; Tokyo based DJ and a member of rowdy party crew Levelz, He has been playing shows around the World for nearly 18 years, from LA to Tokyo to Melbourne and all round Europe. He was a resident DJ for the warehouse Project for 6 years before moving to Japan, also held residencies at Londons Fabric club with his cult club night Hoya:Hoya, as well as being a resident at Manchesters longest running Bass party Hit&Run.
