Guest mix  #341 in our series comes from Amsterdam based duo, Black Girl / White Girl.

BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL are a force of nature squared, combining their taste for raw and rousing music in the fields of acid, techno, house, electro, and more.

They channel this alongside influence from their respective Curacaoan and Israeli heritage, crafting tracks and sets that are packed full of potent sounds and able to keep dancefloors enthralled while veering in unexpected directions. Together, they are a couple living in Amsterdam and have emerged as a force to be reckoned with. 
Their knack for crafting craggy acid and jackin’ techno is only outmatched by the palpable collaborative energy they bring to their DJ sets.

Since emerging on the global club circuit Karin and Ty have been earning their stripes lighting up dancefloors with their energetic style dipping into techno, house, disco, electro, and rave territories. Their futuristic, yet firmly rooted DJ sets are filled with unexpected musical curveballs, with selections that build a narrative going way beyond limitations of genre, time, and space. From appearances in sweaty clubs and warehouses to shows in cutting-edge venues ranging from Bristol’s Motion, Berlin’s Watergate, and The Block in Tel Aviv, Black Girl / White Girl have blossomed into uncompromising and versatile producers and DJs who know how to work the dance floor.

Despite the global disruption of 2020, Black Girl / White Girl continue their incredibly forceful run of form and steady rise to prominence, gaining support from across the techno community and firmly establishing their strong rep. 
They remain busy on the output front with new music released this year on labels that include UKR, Super Rhythm Trax, AEROBIK and Food Music, and installments of the monthly OPERATOR mix series dropping to keep fans dancing at home.

Before the recent rise in '90s style psychedelic, ambient-influenced electronic music, one of the only producers offering up this kind of hallucinatory revivalism was A Sagittariun.  On the ‘Minor Malfunction’ single, the one born under the 9th sign returns to Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains, with a brace of linear techno jams.

The Bristol based, techno dream weaver, has always operated on the Outer Rim of the techno and electronica galaxy, but has, and remains, a sound shaper and influencer, via releases for esteemed labels such as Running Back, Idle Hands, Hypercolour, Craigie Knowes, and his own Elastic Dreams imprint.

‘Minor Malfunction’ hurls a pacey and swinging minimal techno beat high up into the stars, as a quirky and funky infusion of choppy pulses and dubbed out tones are showered in transcendental bleeps.  In contrast, ‘Heresy’ plays it straighter, but is no less deadly, as rampaging beats and ominous and apocalyptic synths & strings come crashing in like waves.

Fantastic Voyage's Danny Goliger contributes to this edition of the GAM guest mix series from his home studio in Echo Park.

L.A. native Danny is a producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist with an impressive dance music resume.  He has racked up releases with labels such as Fantastic Voyage, Dirtybird, Art | Werk, Tokimonsta’s Young Art Records, Hot Boi Records, and Moving Castle.  Danny is also an accomplished remixer, having recently delivered remixes of Mija, Vonda7, and Ardalan in 2020.

Known for eclectic, genre-bending DJ sets, Danny effortlessly mixes between styles including house, techno, breakbeat, jungle, electro and IDM.  For this mix, he delivers a glitchy, heady blend of breaks and IDM that strikes a balance between the musically abstract and the rhythmically insistent, and draws contrasts between tracks that can be melodic and melancholy vs. songs that are more harsh and aggressive.
