Ahead of his SunTzu album release, DJ, producer, songwriter, musician and label boss Omid Nourizadeh, also known as Omid 16B, delivers an eclectic and exclusive Guest Mix.

Omid 16B has forged a unique and prolific career as one of the world’s most talented and respected musicians and producers with over 20 years contributing to the scene, as this mix proves.

Growing up in London, with Persian roots, he’s highly regarded as a pioneer of the tech house movement back in the early nineties, alongside Carl Craig, Craig Richards, Mr C, Steve Bug and Francois K. Omid's impressive discography includes releases on labels such as Eye Q, Hooj Choons, Stomp/EQ, Yoshitoshi, Ministry Of Sound, Deconstruction, Tsuba and Bedrock, as well as his own labels aLOLa and SexOnWax Recordings. 

Omid boats an impressive portfolio of music, releasing 4 albums to date including his hugely acclaimed debut 'Sounds From Another Room’ (1998), 'How To Live 100 Years' (2002), the two-part ‘Like 3 Ears & 1 Eye' (2007) and his long awaited brilliant album from release last year, ‘Silenciety’. He has worked under many pseudonyms including $16 Million Dollar Man, Phaser, 16B, Pre 4, OTC, ORN, Sixteen Souls, Subversive Attraction, NEW5 and Omid 16B, among others. Omid's impressive collaboration and remixes credits include artists Lana Del Rey, Morel, The Cure, Gus Gus, Danny Howells, François Kevorkian, Steve Lawler through to Groove Armada, Depeche Mode, Prince, Deep Dish, and many more. 

Having played at some of the best festival stages around the world from Snowbombing, MTVFestival, SW4 Main Stage in London, DJmag’s 20th anniversary show at Space Ibiza, Bestival and the Space Closing party, Omid continues to follow his individual creative path, taking his unique sounds from his London studio to the global stage.

This week, we've not so far to travel. The Podcast has landed back in Dublin and one of her brightest and newest talents. Resident of one of the biggest nights in the capital, and releases on ICONYC & NaturaSonis under his belt already, we're sure this man is destined for big things. Sligo-born DJ and producer, Gavin Rochford has, over the last few years started to become a known contributor to the Progressive and Melodic scene with his production skills, while also pushing his DJ output in his current home of Dublin. Gavin can be found playing in clubs like Opium and Tengu with the Melodic Dublin crew, where he has become a trusted resident of their long running events and club night.
As a resident of Melodic, this has seen Gavin support some of the biggest names in melodic house, from Sebastien Leger and Matthias Meyer, to Guy J and Henry Saiz on a regular basis. This, coupled with his production skills, has seen Gavin release on labels like Sound Avenue, MNL, ICONYC and most recently, catching the eye of Henry Saiz‘ Natura Sonoris label, winning their Quarantine Demo competition and releasing a track on the label earlier this year.

PFG The Progcast  - Episode 42 - Gavin Rochford

Since his passing I felt inspired, compelled even to honour him with a mix. For nearly 20 years he sent me running to the decks to mess around with throwing tracks together just too see if it could work. I wanted to capture that feeling one last time. 

After spending a few weeks on it, I just couldn't make it work. Then on Friday after spending a few hours tuning in to KissFM with all his friends I was able to find inspiration to finish it. 

I wanted to capture his essence without being derivative, to celebrate his love for syncopation while also reflecting his eclectic taste, to be melancholic but also fun.
