Minneapolis-based Centrific showcases his signature Midwest techno sound with today's Global Vibe Radio mix, a recording of his recent set at Communion in Minneapolis.

Born in Suburban Chicagoland and raised in Northwest Wisconsin, Steve Seuling (a.k.a. Centrific) anchored himself in Minneapolis since 1993. In a mostly-hidden, yet vibrantly evolving underground scene, Seuling started attending, curating, and DJing events in the mid-1990s. Underscoring his commitment for the Twin Cities’ massive bass bins, Seuling then in March of 1998 founded “Intellephunk”, his brand of parties that began at the now-shuttered Rockler Fur Building, drawing inspiration from those of his contemporaries (Woody McBride’s “Electric Disko”, Drop Bass Network’s Even Furthur). 

Centrific throws a weekly summer party called “Communion”, founded in 2007 alongside fellow Midwest native Dustin Zahn. Communion is an inclusive open-air day party, focusing on the psychedelic side of house and techno. Most recently, Centrific created an online Twitch stream entitled “Distant Future”, a platform where he invites local and international DJs to showcase their music and chat about their ideas for the future of the rave scene. His dedication to preserving and protecting the local roots of the dance music community shows that, in many ways, he’s the lifeblood of Midwest techno.

Steve’s contributions and continued loyalty to Minneapolis is immense and self-evident. He embodies a fatherly role in both his day-to-day life and artistic practice. Seuling is grounded and approachable; a speaker-freaker with a wry sense of humor and an openness to connect with new and old friends. His DJ style explores a direct lineage to pummeling, aggressive Midwest techno and house, mixing with pointillist sonic precision that permeates his approach to his musical eclecticism. Centrific veers away from musical boundaries and expectations, while pushing further and further into that psychedelic headspace one can only call “the groove”.

Jakarta-based techno producer Ecilo, who has released on Jeff Mills' Axis Records, Planet Rhythm, We Are The Brave and A R T S, takes over this week's Global Vibe Radio mix curation.

His experience in the industry comes from years of refining his sound and honing his technique, with influences ranging from expressive African-American Music (Jazz, Soul, Blues) and the atmospheric resonances of Sci-Fi soundtracks. Always experimenting with different sounds has shaped ECILO to become a producer who is genre-fluid yet strongly rooted in his foundations for proper techno.

With releases on international labels such as ARTS (Berlin), Planet Rhythm (The Netherlands) and We Are The Brave (United Kingdom), Ecilo has strengthened both his reputation and his percussive 4x4 beats to resonate all over the globe. Known for top-notch originality and craftsmanship, his tunes have earned airtime through the sets of giants such as Ben Sims, Alan Fitzpatrick, Mark Farina and Dave Clark.

Though his achievements may be many, this doesn’t stop Ecilo from constantly evolving and perfecting his sound. His hard work and perseverance has also led him to reach the #2 spot on Beatport’s Techno DJ Chart. With many more representations and contributions to Jakarta Techno, Ecilo has become a signature household name for music lovers and partygoers.

Alex Dolby has reached the coveted ground of over 15 years of releasing music and seen his high pedigree of creations landing on labels ranging from Global Underground, John Digweed’s Bedrock, to more recently Emmanuel’s ARTS.

Development and experimentation are the main influences in his sound as Alex has firmly settled on creating expressive techno. A deep love for analogue sounds, rough textures and tough rhythms are accompanied by dystopian aesthetics. A clear focus on functional club weaponry is wrapped up in his productions to pay homage to the dance floors he draws so much inspiration from.

For the 281st episode of Global Vibe Radio we invite Spanish deep techno powerhouse PWCCA to showcase the mental and cerebral sound that characterize his releases and DJ sets.

PWCCA is also known for his work as Dr Cyanide, his first alias which he gave birth to in the distant 1995. What followed were decades of work as a producer, DJ, electronic music teacher, and label owner of the now well-known Hardtools Records. 

PWCCA was born in 2019 as an evolution of Dr. Cynide's work. His releases have found a home on Warm Up Recordings, MORD Records, Faut Section, Blackrodes Experiments, Combine Audio, Inducted Waves, Signal, Granulart Recordings, Devotion Records, Hardtool Records and many more.
