Shadow Wulf’s latest EP release Hornet’s Nest features the dark, seductive sound of Southern California’s technophile Dylan Andrew. In this release, Dylan shows his stylistic influences – blending grit with minimal, progressive, and psychedelic. Consistent with his trademark sound, Dylan Andrew delivers a title track that aptly draws its name from the signature evolving buzzy synth moving swiftly throughout the stereo field. 

The track’s menacing groove features a thick, chunky bassline, a dynamic low-end growl, acid accents, and immense leads that deftly balance melody with savage ferocity. Lending his remix skills to this track is legendary dark minimal master Maksim Dark. Maksim provides a deep, dark, rolling bassline, multi-layered and swelling in and out with expert precision. Saucy little effects and synth hits feature in the mix, along with bold drums and a stomping groove.

The second track on the EP, “Orbit”, is a collaborative effort with fellow San Diego producer Memo Rex. Orbit thrills in its unique minimal and funky weirdness, a solid techno weapon filled with gritty and sinister sounds, cosmic arps, acid deviations, clever sequences, and tempo changes keep this track evolving from start to finish, enticing in its otherworldly journey, and keeping listeners guessing along the way. 

On remix duties is Shadow Wulf label boss Crescendoll, who brings a heavier sound to this minimal groover, flirting with the original stems while adding a swinging mid-bass, playful percussion, massive synth stabs, and her signature twisted psychedelic effects---giving the track a unique psytech feel.

Oortek’s (Ex. DAS BOOT) focus lies on the exploration of progressive, dark minimal and driving techno, and its synthesis with ethereal melodic elements and alien, otherworldly sounding psychedelika. Driven by curiosity and a fascination with the unknown, she seeks to fully embrace the creative process and delivers intelligently crafted sets that draw the audience in. Through the transmission of enticing auditory landscapes interspersed with unorthodox twists and turns, her DJ sets serve as an antidote to the stale and ordinary.

Oortek grew up in the inner city environments of Western Germany, where her fascination with house and techno sounds first developed. After moving to Australia in 2013, she quickly discovered the underground music scene and refined her interest through continuous engagement with the community.  Oortek performed her DJ debut in July 2023, and has since played at a number of events held by Brisbane based organisers including Diffuszed Studios, Misheen Productions and Wizards of Kingston.
